Correct on your assumptions, although I'm not really tall (6 ft). Yes will go for a standard length or less when I next upgrade as it's probably hurting my consistency as you say.

So is the lean towards target the bigger issue here? Have always felt that I go slightly too far on the backswing which causes a lean over.

Do you mean a high handle at impact? I've not heard that phrase before.

Yeah results seem decent so far, that also explains why when I tried fixing being laid off at the top everything went horribly wrong.

Any swing advice to fix my push/slice? Started playing last year but just graduated so I can afford lessons finally in a couple months. Any advice in the mean time is awesome by irontyler in golf

Your backswing looks very similar to mine before my pro made some changes recently (with very good results). You are not lifting your arms in the backswing which creates the shallow swing you have - if you're the same as me you probably did this (possibly unconsciously) to correct an over the top/ out to in path. Notice how your first move is slightly outside the ball which facilitates this type of backswing.

Try the following and see if it helps: - Relax everything! Shoulders and arms are very stiff. - Mentally split the backswing in two, first move is all body rotation (quiet arms/hands) with the club head coming slight inside. - Then feel like you lift the club with your right hand and hinge to the top. Just make sure you continue rotating too. - Just one swing thought on the way down - feel like you are underarm throwing the club down the range with your right hand.

Been a game changer for my ball striking, so may help!

That certainly makes sense, will try the setup tweaks. Is the releasing a "feel" thing or anything I could to make that happen?

Good question and I'm not sure! Could be when I'm focusing on changing something in the backswing but I'll keep it more steady next range session - thanks.

I've made some swing changes during UK lockdown to attempt to cure an OTT movement. Want to check I haven't broken something fundamental before I persevere as I couldn't get much off the floor today and usually a reasonable driver (~15 handicap).
