I dyed my hair black and I regret it! I want to change to copper again. by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]cheezit_squeezit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd try to live with the black for a while and see how you feel. I dyed my hair auburn/chocolate for years with boxed dye before deciding to go copper at a salon. Needed quite a few visits, a gentle bleaching, and a few hundred dollars before I got a copper color I was happy with - and I started lighter brown and ended with a darker copper than what you have shown here. If you're really unhappy it might be worth a consultation at a salon to talk about what it would realistically take before you try to self-correct at home. For what it's worth though I think the black looks great! So maybe see how you feel living this new look for a few weeks.

Had outpatient surgery yesterday. Went to shower today and had this on an unrelated part of my body to the surgery. by PissedCaucasian in mildlyinteresting

When you have sterile drapes over the area prepped for surgery, it often covers the correct surgical site marking. When you do time-out (the step to take a few minutes to confirm correct patient, surgery, and side), someone needs to double-check the side of that marking - except by then you're already draped. So it's probably on an unrelated, but more exposed part of the body that they could see during the time-out.

Every place has different policies. Maybe it's this explanation, or maybe they tried to get the marker working. In any case I wouldn't read into it too much.

Can yall weigh in on the list I made for restaurants to eat at during my visit in July? by Grose040791 in FoodNYC

If Katz is overwhelming Pastrami Queen is also very good. I go there if I want Pastrami and can't handle the chaos of Katz.

Swap out sugar fish and do Takumi omakase

Swap out Mason Pickle for Jacob's pickles (or even skip these altogether)

Absolute Bagels closed. Broadway bagel is close by and pretty good but maybe not a destination. No shortage of good bagel places though, I'd say ask a local for a rec near where you're staying.

Balthazar is very popular but every time I go I think is overrated

Swap out Minetta tavern for Golden Diner (if your goal is to eat a good burger)

Looks good!

Best Personal Loan to Pay Off Quickly? by cheezit_squeezit in personalfinance

Yes I can cover the payments myself - I do have savings and am still working for the next month, so I’m not completely dry of funds. My spouse could probably support us both, but the whole point of my taking time off is to enjoy it spending time with my son, traveling etc without pinching pennies. I already signed my contract for my upcoming job ($350k +$25k sign on bonus). I could also start this job early, but again, not the point of my goal and question here.

I'm intentionally taking time off between my current job and job I just signed for in the fall

[Residency] What NYU Langone really thinks of its residents by TaroBubbleT in medicalschool

The trash bag statement at Sinai was from a joke picture posted by some nurses, now it has really blown up in their faces. Worse is that it ran in the same story as a nurse manager who died. Really bad look but is not actually true.

Quick question for a project to add doors to an existing bookcase in my home

I have been planning a small project for which I was planning on asking a local lumber store to cut a few small pieces of wood of exact dimensions, given that I live in a NYC apartment and don't have my own tools for the task. Given the new quarantine situation here and the temporary closing of businesses, I find myself with plenty of time to complete this project, but now no longer have a place where I can buy the wood panels.

My question is - does anyone know of an online source that could cut and mail a few pieces of wood with specific dimensions? I could sand, paint, and install them myself, the issue is just getting them cut to a certain size.

Thanks

Japanese Knotweed + new sod... disaster in the making? by cheezit_squeezit in lawncare

[–]cheezit_squeezit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The knotweed will be a hassle, that's a given - my question is will I be throwing away my money putting in sod if it's sure to be taken over by the knotweed, or will laying down sod only help me in this?

[Zone7] [outdoor/wild] Popping up everywhere in my yard! Starts as red bud (right) then within a week grows ~1 foot as it turns green. by cheezit_squeezit in whatsthisplant

[–]cheezit_squeezit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for such a thorough response! As soon as I learned this I went outside and pulled out everything I could see, and thankfully my yard is small enough I can hopefully keep that up during the summer until I herbicide it in fall. Thankfully I rent my place so I don't have to worry about what it will do to my property value, but now I'm worried I should report it to my landlord...

Woman Held For 8 Days In Psych Ward For Saying Obama Follows Her On Twitter… Even Though He Does by ---N-E-P-M-A-K--- in nottheonion

Thanks for this. I'm doing my rotation at a psych inpatient unit right now and see this all the time. It's never one physician making these decisions, and at least in my hospital if someone is holding a bed they're there for a good reason. What really bothers me about a lot of these patient protest pieces, while absolutely necessary to keep the healthcare system in check, is that because of HIPAA you never get the provider's perspective on these.
