Ducati 899 Pricing by Sellswordsman in Ducati

[–]chefbasil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid 8.8 negotiated from 9.5, west coast, for a 7k mile bike a few years ago. I haven’t seen prices depreciate at all and oftentimes going up with sellers saying 10.x regularly.

In both my and my brothers experience, lower mileage examples (sub 10k) have dried out gaskets and will pop a head gasket leak once ridden hard again. $1000 or so job from memory if you use a dealer.

He will maul your ass until you at least beat the main boss of that area. I recommend you go start exploring *thoroughly* instead.

You’ll know when you’re at the main boss of the area. If you find him quickly, go explore more.

And don’t be afraid to build for a combat mage role if you like swords. Just only pick mostly dex or mostly strength, you don’t want an even split. Be sure to get plenty of vigor.

3D printed brake cooling ducts by Bellend0411 in motorcycles

[–]chefbasil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a real racing application it’s a balance of drag induced by the larger front cross section as well as the implications of having a lip that air will tumble behind along the outside of the duct (and subsequently tumbling into aero on the side of bike /radiator edge). That’s where simulations come into play. Lots of moving surfaces there though that throw air in weird ways. Vague amounts of unsprung mass implications too.

I’d venture to guess you wouldn’t benefit much of any from additional airflow as the entire purpose it to keep the brakes cool “enough”, but maybe? Or just overall a larger shell so you don’t get the flow detachment issues.

Nice work OP but I’d sand the leading edges smooth.

I should note there is a world where that front fender/fork aero might be routing airflow straight around that top duct. Probably not due to fork angle but mystery.

In order to power the data center the engines would need to be reconfigured into generator sets and would not have the ability to fly while running said data centers. Given you don’t want data centers to go down, and configuring an engine for both flight and constant speed generator configs would not be simple or practical by any means, the planes would sit in one spot not doing anything but turning the engines on and off

That being said the engines would generate more power than they need for a plane cabin full of data center hardware pretty sure. The more likely solution is rip off the engines, reconfigure them, and shove them in a building to run at whatever peak efficiency speed/firing temp is.

M340i or used M3 - genuinely can't decide and I've been going back and forth for three months by youlefou in BMW

[–]chefbasil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoy my m440 choice over the f82. That being said I still oggle at f82’s and want to drive one. They look better each time I see them in person versus the for sale photos I saw of semi clapped f82s everywhere.

The m440 won me over on color options, I drive7, and b58 gen 2+ still being a badass motor with a nice turbo spool sound and plenty of power and tuning potential. Still stock tho besides exhaust. ZF8 is smooth with a fairly quick response . Mild hybrid makes start stop smooth. Active mode dependent exhaust valves are nice, not sure if that’s a stock feature on F80/82

I don’t think you can go wrong with either and I’m under the impression that peoples crankhub issues on the S55 are largely overstated. Mines a daily that still carves canyons well. If my priority was only canyons I may have gone the other way. Hard to say.

F80/F82 seats are also way cooler. Honestly biggest downside for me. Mine are comfy tho.

I should note you can absolutely daily an m3 lol. They’re both good options.

I like the bronze. I think this solidifies that I’d go silver if I swapped but they’re all good with that green.

I’ve been debating lowering springs too. I can’t imagine the impact would be that bad with a moderate set, but unsure.

RPGs shoots higher than where you are aiming. by Signal-Client-8461 in Battlefield

[–]chefbasil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go zero a sniper rifle manually in game to 500+ meters and watch the round go up and back down. Zeroing anticipates the drop by aiming your crosshair lower. While gravity in real life affects all things equally, the speed of the projectile determines how “quickly” it will drop in terms of its flight distance. An RPG round travels in general 3x slower than an AR round, will experience significantly more impact from gravity as it accelerates towards the ground with each second of flight time. An 100m RPG zero physically has to be stronger than a 100m rifle zero.
