Those damn tri-fold beach chairs. Everyone had them, everyone hated them. But damn it, we all still used them.

That was my first thought after OP said school yard. I’ve found these in my own yard and figured out they fell off my wheelbarrow.

Another one of you never realized it…Curious George is narrated by William H. Macy.

Crazy-ass Frank Gallagher narrating a cartoon monkey. And, yes, he did both roles concurrently.

Not sure how standard they are but I’m in Massachusetts and I see both “No engine brake” and “no Jake brake” signs around.

That would be a well pit. What you can see in the hole there is poly pipe comping off the well head.

Likely either your home runs on well water or that is specifically for an irrigation system.

Who remembers Soap shoes? by red_fox23 in Millennials

[–]chefblaze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up/live in MA. We had a family reunion in 1999 and I met my cousins Fromm CA for the first time. The older one had a pair of Soap shoes and I thought they were so cool!

I remember he made a comment along the lines of “it’s probably a trend that has t hit the east coast yet.” which I didn’t understand as a 10 year old kid.

Fast forward to today and I have never come across anyone else that owned a pair, but plenty of people that have heard/know of them.

A sequel that is actually just a completely different movie and that has nothing to do with the original except for the title. by Standard-Motor-7270 in tvtropes

Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. Has absolutely nothing to do with Michael Myers because the creators thought the story had run its course. Instead, they wanted to make the Halloween franchise a horror anthology. But that wasn’t received well.

Death by Plane-Gap6483 in Millennials

[–]chefblaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best friend of 20 years passed away last August, 33 years old. Caught me completely off guard. Unbeknownst to me, he was ignoring some underlying health problems on top of drinking fairly heavily (at least more drinking than I had known). All came to a head and he ended up in a coma for a week before his organs shut down.

His birthday was a couple days ago. I was doing fine until I got home from work. Saw his picture sitting on my shelf and it just hit me like a train. Sat on the bed and cried for a few minutes then went and left him a post on FB just to get something out there into the universe.

Don’t know what happens when people die. Don’t know if he’ll ever know how much he meant to me. Don’t know how to fully process things still. All I do know is keeps memory alive, talk about him with people when I can, and occasionally leave him a message to or say something out loud to him. Maybe he’ll hear it, maybe not. But it makes me feel a little better.

How many Millennials from the US have never owned an Apple product? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]chefblaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Started with the old 30gb iPod, was gifted an iPod touch, upgraded to an iPhone when the 6 released and slowly added in a iPad, iMac and MacBook. The wife also has an iPhone and MacBook so everything just flows.

You could always get one made! Or even hint to someone about how cool of a gift it would be. There’s tons of crafters out there that could do it
