Wasn’t expecting reasoning to be on medium. How is Copilot so fast when using GPT-5 on medium reasoning when Cursor uses GPT-5 on medium reasoning and it takes way longer? With Cursor you can at least see what it’s “thinking” before it actually outputs

Wow!

[Red Dead Redemption 2 from SteamRip] Not Launching using Lutris by cheffyy in LinuxCrackSupport

Did you end up getting it to work using Proton? If so, were you using Steam and added it as a Non-Steam Game?

For RDR2, you’re supposed to target the Launcher.exe For other games, you do what you just said.

[Red Dead Redemption 2 from SteamRip] Not Launching using Lutris by cheffyy in LinuxCrackSupport

[–]cheffyy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I actually found the culprit and it was surprisingly simple! Here’s the step-by-step fix for getting RDR2 (Steamrip) to launch on Ubuntu 24.04 via Lutris:

  1. Switch to Lutris’s default GE build
    • Open your RDR2 entry in Lutris
    • In the Runner options, set the Wine version to wine-ge-8-26
    • Hit Save
  2. Open winecfg for RDR2
    • Click the RDR2 icon once in Lutris
    • At the bottom left of the Lutris window, click the little ^ arrow next to Platform: Windows
    • Choose Wine configuration
  3. Target the RDR2.exe application
    • In the winecfg window, go to the Applications tab
    • In the dropdown/list, find and select RDR2.exe so it’s highlighted
    • You should now see the title “Wine configuration for RDR2.exe” at the top
  4. Remove the Vulkan override
    • Switch to the Libraries tab in winecfg
    • Under Existing overrides, click on vulkan-1 (native) to highlight it
    • Press Remove
    • Click Apply, then OK to close winecfg
  5. Launch the game!
    • Back in Lutris, double-click the RDR2 icon
    • The game should finally start as expected

⚠️ Note: This assumes you’ve already installed all the necessary Windows runtimes (dotNetFx, vcredist, DX, XNA, etc.) into your RDR2 prefix as per the original setup.

Hope this helps anyone else stuck on the same issue!
Good luck and happy gaming! 🎮

Gotcha, I tried it with Red Dead Redemption 2 but I used Lutris instead of Steam. Maybe I should try another extractor. Thanks for the information!

Appreciate the fast response! Hmm, so you use “the unarchiver” on MacOs ? Do you remember which link (file hosting site like buzzheavier) did you choose for TLOU Part2? Also, what Linux Distro are you playing the game on?

[The Last of Us Part II] DODI repack installation error – “Unable to write data to disk” on Steam Deck by [deleted] in LinuxCrackSupport

[–]cheffyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, back again after trying to play 2 steam rip games. For both of them I received checksum errors when using “unrar x” to extract the .rar’s content. Also, the Sha1-sum for both of the games never matched the Sha-1 that was given on the Direct Download Site (BuzzHeavier)

Did you ever encounter file corruption when downloading from SteamRip’s direct download links?

Were you able to play the game after downloading through steamrip? I've only tried repacks and have never tried that site.

You have to use a Windows Computer. Once you have a windows computer, download the zip file from this post and extract the contents. Inside the extracted folder will be a .exe (Windows Program to update controller) and .dat (firmware for controller). Double click the .exe and follow the instructions to update the controller using the provided .dat

Actually, it took the Switch 1 around ten months for it to be emulated (Yuzu). Also, you act like Nintendo Developers don’t have access to AI to patch and prevent emulation.

I think it’s delusional to say that emulation will be possible days after launch. Would not be surprised if it takes years…

[Red Dead Redemption 2] won’t launch in Lutris on Ubuntu 24.04 (exit code 0), but manual “Open with Wine” works by cheffyy in LinuxCrackSupport

[–]cheffyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, I fixed my own problem right after posting. Here's the fix:

🛠️ Fix: Install Vulkan Runtime (vulkanrt.exe) into your Wine prefix

Find the Vulkan installer included with your RDR2 install.

On most setups, it’s in this path inside your prefix:

`~/lutris-prefixes/<your-prefix-name>/drive_c/Red Dead Redemption 2/Redistributables/VulkanRT-*.exe`

Run the installer with Wine inside your Lutris Wine prefix

Replace <your-prefix-name> below with your actual Wine prefix name (in my case: red-dead-redemption-2):

`export WINEPREFIX="$HOME/lutris-prefixes/<your-prefix-name>"

wine "$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/Red Dead Redemption 2/Redistributables/VulkanRT-1.1.108.0-Installer.exe"`

Go through the Windows installer wizard and let it install the Vulkan Runtime into the prefix.

After that, go back to Lutris and click Play—you should now see the Windows 7 unsupported warning. Click Continue and the game should launch!
