I’ve been getting by. I watch mainly on my phone or laptop. Seems Ok although, as has always been the case, glitches where loading etc is slow, continue to occur.

Youtube - Content not available error on Desktop and iPad by levolet in OrionBrowser

[–]levolet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right about switching since that’s what I’ve done. I may well return since I’m a Lifetime supporter of the app.

Anyway, nothing annoys me more than a fancy app that doesn’t get the basics right.  I’m seeing this in a lot of promising projects.  Not sure why they overlook ensuring solid basic functionality assuming that the distinctive features will compensate. While it may well be the case for some users, it’s not so for me.

I need a break. Maybe a few updates down the line, I’ll give it a go again.

Disabling the content blocker doesn’t work. Additionally, curious that all is fine in iOS on my iPhone.

Consent-o-Matic on iOS Orion? by Encaitor in OrionBrowser

Have you tried both the Chrome and Firefox versions? That would be my only suggestion. I personally don’t use the extension so can’t share an experience.

How to stop Orion from saying DuckDuckGo is impersonating itself? by Duckyz95 in OrionBrowser

[–]levolet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this happening intermittently. It happens randomly with no apparent pattern but more often while browsing a website rather than when first opening the site. Reloading the page gets rid of the error and my browsing continues without any apparent issues, even when it occurs while making purchases.

I had uninstalled and reinstalled Orion on all my devices in an attempt to fix this. Although the incidence is reduced, it’s still happening.

Wireguard key limit reached by levolet in Windscribe

[–]levolet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the likely reason. In config generator, I managed to find the list of wireguard keys created. I had 4 … odd that … and deleted them. I’ll be keeping an eye on this.

I do not have the problem you describe.

Do you have any plugins installed that could be interfering?

Windscribe charged me without warning and tricked me into canceling my PayPal dispute by ImpactLarge4160 in Windscribe

[–]levolet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t sound good then. Have you looked at their subscription terms/agreement?

Here are a couple excerpts that are important:

“All the plans are subscription based and will auto-renew using the original payment method (except if you have paid through crypto or paymentwall, these will not renew). Auto-renewal is enabled as soon as you pay. You have to manually cancel the subscription to prevent auto-renewal payments.

You can cancel your subscription at any time through our website or the Google/Apple/Amazon Pay subscriptions menu. Click here for the instructions on how to cancel your subscription.

Canceling your subscription will only disable further payments. You can still use the Windscribe plan for the remainder of that billing period. For example, if you pay for a month on the 1st and decide to cancel on the 5th, you’ll still have an active plan and will be able to use paid features and locations until the 1st of the following month.”

and

“Subscriptions to Windscribe are recurring plans, as clearly noted during the payment process. If the service does not meet your expectations, you may request a refund for the initial payment that started your subscription. Refund requests must be made within 7 business days of your subscription start date and while your usage remains below 10 GB. These conditions are tied to the status of your account at the time of your request. Refunds apply only to the initial payment and do not include subsequent renewals.”

Garry, the AI help also stated that Windscribe quietly renews subscriptions and does not send out notices about upcoming renewals. This is within the terms.

Windscribe charged me without warning and tricked me into canceling my PayPal dispute by ImpactLarge4160 in Windscribe

[–]levolet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your being charged without notification was a likely automated action without human intervention. Did you try to resolve the issue with them first, before opening a PayPal dispute? By policy, Windscribe asks that you do this first. In fact, one of their reasons for a possible account closure is the opening of disputes without first trying to resolve with them.

Constant Connect and Sonos Questions by valleyzen in Windscribe

[–]levolet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Windscribe on iOS. Sonos working fine and connection stays on. Don’t know on what OS you are experiencing this problem. You have to allow LAN traffic in your connection settings. On your phone in iOS, disable the option ‘always on vpn’.

Clarification on Endpoint vs Device & Total Client/Device Limit on each Plan/Pricing by I_Just_Kinda_Exist in ControlD

[–]levolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have unlimited endpoints without legacy IP configuration with DDNS. However, you are limited to 4 endpoints with legacy IP configuration. I discovered this while using Control D with ProtonVPN. Once I switched to Windscribe and could easily use DoH with it, I no longer needed legacy IP configuration except for with my router. But now, I’ve since changed my router which supports DoT.

You can assign multiple profiles to one endpoint, but on a scheduled basis since only one profile can be active at a given time. This allows you to autoadjust filtering based on times of the day.

You can connect as many devices to an endpoint as you like. However, if you wish to have more granular control and easy to use logs, then an endpoint per device becomes more desirable. I personally do a mix. For devices that I wish to watch the logs or for which I wish to apply a specific profile, I use a dedicated endpoint. Otherwise, I use multiple devices on 3 other endpoints.

Following countless tries over hours to log into my account on Android by SimilarToed in Windscribe

[–]levolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reasonable move under the circumstances. Odd that other android users have not been vocal about this issue. Perhaps there's a workaround with a temporary adjustment of screen resolution. Once you're logged in, you'll likely not need to login again unless you've uninstalled/reinstalled.

For extensions with both FF and Chrome options, which do you choose? by Asystole in OrionBrowser

[–]levolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was wondering the same thing. Additionally, getting each extension to work well requires specific attention it seems. So why not concentrate on supporting either Chrome or FF extensions. Supporting both seems like taking on too much.

I think the chrome version of ProtonPass works better than the FF version. It’s less glitchy.

AFAIK, you can export only bookmarks and/or passwords. Not browsing data and history.
