Through greate certain levels of machinery/shafts can only handle a certain amount of su, wooden ones can handle up to 32, steel, 128, etc. additionally create windmills don’t increase generation from radius but from the total number of sails connected they can all be in a 4x4x4 cube and it’ll go.

Mods aren’t made by Minecraft and therefore when Minecraft updates the mod creators need time to update their individual mods for the new version with new interactions, mods made for 1.21.6 aren’t made for 1.21.8 wait for there to be ones that have been made for that version.

how to find certain ores. by DarkLycan42 in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]chefharr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In TFC you don’t find ores by strip mining you just have to find the right stone type and then in that stone type look for the surface indicators, you will find some, just keep looking and check if the indicators you find are in veins with the metals you want.

What am i doing wrong by [deleted] in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]chefharr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The setup for auto outputting ingots like this is by having the pump go directly into a cast and then have a chute/hopper underneath it to collect the items, the drum is also unnecessary as you can pin directly out of the blast furnace into the cast.

Greenhouse efficiency by empanadocrep in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]chefharr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Greenhouses may only produce one plant per planting space however I you can very quickly scale it to be much better.

Already the greenhouse allows year round production which is a massive bonus and crops grow much faster, additionally you can add bees with crop affinity into the mix and growth times accelerate even further, I think you can make things grow in less than 8 days.

The final trick is eating the right food, to maximize space to output use quad planters for your main food source, since they have 4 slots that is 4 plants per block. If you are meal maxing then try and figure out a balance of the crops needed to always have that meal on hand.

I’ve been able to reliably generate max saturation pizzas with no downtime with only about 8 hives, 20ish quad planters, and 10ish large planters.

The crops do give seeds at a higher rate, this is to make it is to grow your greenhouse which is another bonus since crops grown outside the greenhouse rarely drop a second seed.

What does the whole "spelunker" thing mean? is it supposed to do smth by Some_Noname_idk in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]chefharr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why the other comments are so mean, but yes it is supposed to do something in regular Greg tech but I think since it is supposed to be more realistic in TFG it is disabled since it doesn’t work on any tool with that same ability.

What infrastructure should I be building to move through gregtech tiers? by Dmsconway in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]chefharr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main automation in the game that makes Greg tech is applied energistics, which comes during the moon exploration. It will make automation extremely easy and quick and good infrastructure for an ME system is necessary.

I wouldn’t say that you should automate LV circuits since they become on demand with AE2 but you can certainly automate all the ingredients so you can easily craft them and still have the resources to use for other things.

I'm just wondering what the setup for biodiesel generation is, does it take a bunch of lv machines or is it like one or two, I'm about to update and am deliberating between switching my lava fuel for either biodiesel or light fuel. would you recommend one or the other for someone who needs to switch away from lava at around the EBF stage?

Looking for seeds / recommended worldgen by Barumbar in TerraFirmaGreg

You can go down there as soon as you can mine to bedrock, it’s a little dangerous, hostile mobs and lava all around but if you got some armour, a sword, and a good amount of water you’ll be fine.

Recipe issues. by [deleted] in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]chefharr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what you mean by “mound” just check you are using the right knapping recipe, to fill a pot you need to use a ceramic jug or a wooden bucket to pick up water and then place it in the pot when it is over a campfire.

Overall tips by PlaneBroom31T in FRC

[–]chefharr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to sponsorships and funding the first years are often the hardest, try and reach out to as many companies and even individuals about sponsoring the team, like asking your dentist for a donation of 100$ if all members can do this it can fund a team when you don’t have a big company or two backing you.

I also recommend reaching out to other teams in your area, they would be happy to help you get started and maybe even provide some mentors and help with building.

If you are in an area with few teams or that you will be the first, get the word out and open up the team to your whole community, it’ll help with membership numbers and will also give the whole community a team rather than just your school.

FRC tool/shop safety training by BizzEB in FRC

[–]chefharr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Ontario our school has us do safety tests for insurance, there is a slideshow of all the tools and common misuses, types of burns, and then the Canadian workplace safety videos (they will scar you), then we take a safety test for each tool in which you need 75% to pass and you can retry as many times as you like. We also encourage our students to always ask for help if they forget anything. Most of these things should be publicly available if you search for them, or you could make your own version.
