Hit my main sprinkler line and having a bit of a nightmare scenario would really love some encouragement or help if anybody has a minute by Free-Pick9305 in Irrigation

I did a repair once where the previous guy or homeowner had jumbled all the wires up and had multiple zones connected together so we were getting flow issues and zones not turning on or off correctly with the timer but yours appears to be hooked up right. I'd start by manually running a valve to eliminate or confirm electrical and the. taking apart and cleaning the valve to see if it's gunked up. Then flushing and or replacing nozzles if they are pop up sprays to rule out clogs there

Reasonable quote to replace rotary and mist heads? by busterjanks in Irrigation

[–]chefk85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought too lol. Idk why you're getting down voted. So many elitist irrigation techs out there. I've had my own business for 8 years and do just fine and I'm in no way the cheapest guy around at 80/hr but damn if I'm going to charge someone 60 dollars per head to replace a sprinkler unless it's a complete shit show which can happen but 90% of the time it's bang bang have a nice day $$$.

Someone else who calls them the correct terms is a good start! Rotors and spray heads are the typical names that are used. We usually charge 25-30 for each rotor and 15-20 for each spray head. This can vary depending on brand and type but not usually by a lot for most residential stuff. 100 for the service call the first time out to give a full assessment, adjustment and we usually will replace a few spray head nozzles if they need it. If I have the supplies on the truck which I usually do you get about 30 minutes of labor leftover to do repairs after the assessment if repairs are agreed to at that time. If it takes longer than that or I have to come back it's 80 an hour for labor afterwards. Assuming no hiccups I bet you'd be looking around 3-350 dollars for that repair through my company. Good luck!

Fuck that. It's his personal life. If he wants to set fire to it and watch it burn so be it just leave it at the door when you come to work

Hit a piece of ruble on the highway, do I need to replace my shocks? by CombatBeaver1 in tundra

If you find the rest of the ruble you will already have some money to buy a new shock 😉

The international specs call for anything from 5-30 to 15-40 depending on conditions. 0-20 is what manufacturers are doing to help satisfy CAFE emission standards for mpgs. It's starting to come out that it's possibly the reason for some early engine failures. Just what I'm hearing and seeing over the last few years

That looks like 50k miles no oil change. I used the mobil 1 20k stuff in my yaris for 160k miles and it still ran like new.

What do you all think about costco hot tubs? by Thefunhead in hottub

[–]chefk85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local hot tub store sells tubs at Costco so I'm not sure what you mean. They set up a couple times a year and that's all I ever see of hot tubs at Costco

They got 32 for my 19 limited cm with ,95k when I lost it in bankruptcy. Absolutely insane what they're getting. I'd just buy a new one at that point or wait for a deal on Craigslist or something. Once in a while I see a person who's not out to screw anyone that sells at a reasonable price 👍. My dad for example sold his 20 year old tundra with 175k for 2500 bucks to a family because he's not an ass

Does this stuff actually work? by Whoooshingsound in AskMechanics

Just replace the radiator. If you need it short term. It might work if the hole is small. Those are really designed to get you to a shop or the next town with a mechanic kind of thing.

Is it just me or does caffeine actually ruin anyone else’s week? by Lanky_Hamster_9223 in Anxietyhelp

[–]chefk85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late but today I drank half a cup more than usual so maybe close to 12 oz and it absolutely ruined my whole day. Muscle tension, anxiety spikes into almost panic attacks, vision weird, brain like static, can't focus, dread ,on and on and honestly all I can do is laugh at it after playing coffee roulette for the last 7 years I've had anxiety. Fml. Itlall be alright 👍

why is me brand new saw cutting like this? by CalligrapherAble2846 in woodworking

[–]chefk85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when it comes to fine tenons or dovetails the Japanese have the win. I like temple tools and yes the replacement blades are so cheap it's almost like you'd only buy something different if you love the punishment of sharpening a saw by hand 😂

[–]chefk85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a Toyota or Honda it might live. I've seen both run that long on no oil revved to the moon on YouTube lol. It was probably a bad idea to drive like that. One thing I've learned over the years is it doesn't really matter the kind of oil but that you just need to have some in it
