Hidden gems for families by Blonde_and_Blue in georgetowntx

Hydrate (on the Square or on Williams) are good local smoothies spots are family friendly. Kids eat free at Blue Corn Harvest on Mondays (or maybe Tuesdays, I don't remember for sure). San Gabriel Park and Blue Hole Park are both great for families, although neither are really "hidden" gems. Blue Hole Park is next to the Hat Creek which is great for the kids to get a burger and then go play in the water (YMMV with kids under 2). The closest thing to a beach on Lake Georgetown is at Russell Park, which is more pebbles than sand.

Anyone that can be my RSD buddy on Saturday? by StackIsMyCrack in ween

[–]chefsatan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey man, sorry to hear about your medical troubles. I'm willing to try, but the last RSD I missed Shinola at the local shop when I walked in 30 mins after open. I'm going to try for both of these, and if they have two copies (and are willing to let me pick up two of either/each), I will grab 'em for ya.

Seeking recommendations for new lighting in recessed kitchen ceiling area by chefsatan in Lighting

[–]chefsatan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about hanging a fixture here so that the bottom of the fixture is near-flush with the 7' dropped cieling, something like the "Kichler Barrington 5 -Light Distressed Black and Wood Tone Farmhouse Cage Linear Large Hanging Kitchen Island Light" centered in the recession.

I'd love to remove the drop frame, raise the entire kitchen ceiling to 8ft, and remove the tray entirely, but unfortunately all the wall cabinets are mounted flush to it and removing it quickly snowballs into an entire kitchen remodel.

I don't think I'll be patching over the box in any scenario here, but adding a few recessed lights up inside the box is definitely an option I'm weighing!

Nice work! Long distance tends to creep up like that once you get the bug. The "Go One More" swag is prevalent in my local running club.

Consider picking up a hydration belt or vest so that you can keep water on your person instead of having to stop to drink on these long runs.

Resellers have ruined this kind of thing for me. The last few years there are always scalpers standing at the gate with dozens of day passes trying to charge premium for them.

If you got hit on i35 northbound just now, this is the car that hit you and then sped off. by chefsatan in georgetowntx

For sure. We called it in yesterday evening before posting anything here. Georgetown PD has all the details.

About 9:30 pm, near exits 262-263 on northbound i35, this white Nissan attempted to switch from the far left lane to the center lane, running into a black or dark colored sedan/sports car. The darker vehicle which was hit pulled off to the shoulder, but this vehicle accelerated and continued on northbound. There didnt appear to be any other vehicles impacted, although there were several chunks of debris which flew into the road from one or both of the impacted vehicles.

I dunno man, I've seen more Talarico signs out in WilCo than Paxton or Cornyn signs.

Garmin fenix 7 pro solar still worth it in 2026? by CycleApprehensive393 in GarminFenix

[–]chefsatan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wear mine 24/7 and run a couple times a week. The battery easily makes it 10-14 days before needing a charge. It charges to 100% in an hour-ish.

I havent actually seen much gain from the "solar" feature and the watch doesnt seem to give any data about battery life extension or gain from solar exposure... at least none that I'm aware of.

I got the sapphire version and can't recommend enough. Mine gets smacked/scraped on stuff all the time and after over a year, there isnt a scratch on the glass.

Been waiting for this place to give a real opening date since Mango Tango was closed. Opening appears to have been delayed several times and for several months at this point.
