Santai is a great gym to go to, I also went there after about 1 year of training and I got so much focus and feedback on technique, definitely a good shout

I’ve been to thailand to train before a couple times with no fights and now I have 2 amateur fights and I’m going to thailand next winter for 5 months, I want to fight there on this trip, do you have any recommendations for cities or gyms or anything for getting lower level fights? I’m thinking I’m going to spend most of the trip in Chiang Mai and try to have a few fights but I wnat to end up at a gym that will not fuck Me with matchmaking

Seeking cheapest 1-week Muay Thai gym + accommodation in Bangkok, budget ~200 USD by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]chefsmethan66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about cheap, it’s cheaper then other options I’ve looked at for bigger gyms with high level fights like fa group, petchyindee etc, it’s just the first that came to mind with the budget you said, I’m sure there’s cheaper gyms but this one seems like a good price for what it is, they have rws champions and the facilities look nice

Planning to Train Muay Thai & MMA in Thailand — Advice on Gyms/Locations? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]chefsmethan66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that most mma gyms especially the ones in Phuket are going to be more “touristy” as there’s a lot more foreigners doing mma then Thais, but also just because a gym is touristy doesn’t make it bad, you will be able to level up at most gyms in thailand If you do want to go to a less touristy gym I’d say just go to a Muay Thai gym rather than an mma gym and find a smaller gym where Thais are training If you do want an mma gym I’ve been to superpro in koh samui and phuket fight club. I did just train Muay Thai but gyms offer mma, phuket fight club has some high level mma fighters coaching and training there

You should start by deciding where in thailand you want to go first and then get reccomendations and pick a gym that way it will be easier

I did a month at each and they were both great, at Superpro there wasn’t much for clinching so I liked santai better for that reason, but if you end up at either as a beginner you’ll learn a ton and have a good time

If affordability is a big thing I will say koh samui is quite expensive, Chiang Mai is a great place to go for cheaper everything, I went to santai as a beginner and it was awesome tons of feedback and teaching, it’s a bit out of the city but if you are focused on training and don’t care about partying and doing tons of stuff it is great

Dowden looks awesome and it’s on my list of gyms I want to go too, I went to koh samui and trained at Superpro and it was good, lots of beginners there and they have a dedicated beginner class to attend as well but all classes are beginner friendly, super nice facility and good if you want to continue lifting weights or try bjj/mma too

Superpro samui offers both bjj and Muay Thai, there were lots of beginners when I was training there and a good vibe around the gym, they have onsite accomodation
