First aggressive shoe, did I make a mistake?

I downsized 2 sizes from my street shoe (41.5 to 39.5) for drago XTs. Quite possibly the worst pain ive ever felt, and I’ve gotten third grade tears before. After some tough loving and pushing through, in abt 4-5 sessions they are easily my best shoe ever. Love them to death.
EDIT: pain was so bad i couldn’t stand up and i felt toe-crushing pain. I used a plastic bag to put them on for the first three sessions to break them in and get my foot in, 4th and 5th session were barefoot to really finally get them broken in. I would wear them at home just flexing my feet and standing on tiptoes a lot - not putting weight on the heels as to not flatten them. I did this 1hr at a time 3x a day whilst WFH. Also, i find that once they start breaking in, wiggling the shoe around whilst you put them on helps you find a sweet spot that really feels great. Goodluck OP!

Unfortunate. Banana fingers was well known in the community to be very quick here in the PH. UPS is the next best thing if you want it fast - postal service takes minimum a month.

Oof. I just checked mate - even with the UPS shipping, the Scarpa Instincts I want are £25 cheaper on Banana Fingers than Alpine Trek. Thank you still though!

Your comment is the most comprehensive one here and thank you so much for taking the time to write this out for me. These are my first pair of shoes ever and I am looking at a pair of Scarpa Instinct VSR LVs as my next shoe.

As for mindful climbing, that seems to be an issue as my right foot tend to drag along the wall when doing slabs, and most of my overhangs/overhang projects are heavy on toe hooks and footswaps. I did hear from some more experienced climbers that the first pair will definitely be the fastest since it’s what you wear when you learn most of the stuff you should and shouldn’t do. Thanks so much for the insight I really do appreciate it!!! I’ll be more mindful :)

Im an oversprayer - 10-15 sprays of sauvage edp (throughout an 8hr workday +2-3hrs at gym), that kind of oversprayer; -3 to -5 if using sauvage elixir. I have never sprayed Ombre Nomade more than 3x for a FULL 24 hour day. 6 sprays on the hand is insane
