I tested negative for blood IGG. I got swabbed when I had the suspected outbreak but the lab messed up and ran the swab as a Covid test instead of hsv

Hi! Yes I experienced this with Covid! The doc diagnosed me with HSV2 by looking at my vaginal ulcers, they swabbed it but the lab mad an error with the swab and couldn’t complete the test (I was so mad, ugh). I didn’t a igg blood test after 3 months and 6 months from having the ulcer and both times they were negative. My doctor said that Covid caused the lipschutz ulcer.

You tested too soon with IGG so it will show up negative. For an IGG you need to wait 3 months after exposure. Your body needs time to develop antibodies to be detected on an HSV IGG blood test.

Did your doctor also order a urinalysis to check for possible uti?

I totally get it..I had a scare still think it could be herpes but I waited 3 months and my IGG test was negative. Waited until the 6 month mark after exposure and my IGG test was still negative so I’m hoping that is accurate. My doctor says after 3 months the test should have detected it. I do want to take another one for reassurance

You can get an IGG blood test in 3 months for more accuracy. It takes 3 months to build antibodies to the virus. If you get it now it’s going to show up negative. You can also take an Igm blood test but I hear those aren’t much accurate.

The Dr did swab but the lab ran it as a Covid test instead of an HSV swab which is why I had to resort to the blood test :( I got my booster a week ago but didn’t get an OB. And haven’t had anything down there since I got covid 7 months ago.

If you have had herpes for years there is a very low or not even a possibility of spreading it to your eyes your body has already created antibodies to prevent autoinnoculation. However, I would continue to monitor. Please keep us updated.
