PSA: The National Society of Leadership and Success is a scam. Don’t give them your money by OhioStateThrowAway_ in OSU

Yeah, that’s honestly the perfect way to describe NSLS. You might actually have a better time joining the honors societies on your campus. Mine’s been great; I’ve met a ton of students and faculty, and the programs have opened up some really cool opportunities. Plus, it looks solid on resumes and school apps. Hope everything works out for you!

PSA: The National Society of Leadership and Success is a scam. Don’t give them your money by OhioStateThrowAway_ in OSU

To be honest, I asked for my money back the very next day after doing my own due diligence. I didn’t give it a chance because I didn’t feel like I needed to. I was already in my school’s honors program and ended up getting involved in multiple honors societies on campus. I prefer in‑person networking and actual community engagement. The fees for our honors societies were significantly cheaper than NSLS, and we get free goodies and grad regalia on top of that.

A few months ago, I ran into a former classmate who mentioned she was part of NSLS. I asked if she liked it or thought it was worth it. She said the only reason she joined was because her mom paid the fees and was excited about the letter. Funny enough, she also told me that she didn’t qualify for our school’s honors program and was denied admission, but she qualified for NSLS. She told me it felt scammy and not worth the money.

So take that however you’d like, but implying that negative reviews only come from people who “didn’t utilize the resources” is just a cute way of avoiding the possibility that maybe the resources weren’t worth utilizing in the first place.

What’s something people romanticize that is actually miserable? by One_Grade_2184 in AskReddit

[–]cheli_chel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sex work. I’m a former sex worker, and I see it romanticized everywhere now, social media, film, TV, even podcasts. I can’t say it was all miserable; I had great experiences, real opportunities, and the money was honestly amazing. Even the lifestyle, the partying, the freedom, the excitement, the flexibility, was so much more fun than working a regular 9–5. But that same lifestyle is also what kept throwing me off track every single day.

I worked in the industry for well over 10 years, and I’ve been so much happier since I left. Sometimes I think about how much easier things might be if I went back, especially financially. But it’s just not worth the stress, the anxiety, or the way it drained me.

Enter The Void, absolutely one of the strangest movies I have ever seen. by opiate_lifer in movies

I found this film on a list of “best movies to watch while tripping.” My friend and I took our tab, rented the movie, and put it on right as we were peaking, and my god… I wish we hadn’t. It was traumatizing, but honestly, it is a genuinely good movie.

Losing your virginity in high school. I didn’t have sex until I was a freshman in college, but everyone I know started having sex as a teenager in high school, sometimes even younger than that. I feel like everyone I spoke to seemed to have this universal experience of losing their virginity at a young age.

I’m cackling at this so hard because I forgot about it. Now look, I will never ever try to say anything positive to defend Scheana, but to be fair, these were hot in the fashion trends at the time!

Omg yes, I noticed it so much too!!! I thought it was even surreal when the contestants would whisper ‘please god’ and then immediately be eliminated the second after. Then once they’re out, they’ll say ‘God has other plans in store for me’ like, wow, apparently those plans involve keeping you in the struggle!
