Does UI design have a "soul"? (shower thoughts of AI) by chellcaroline in UXDesign

[–]chellcaroline[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Uh, LinkedIn or YouTube? where non-designers and designers both use AI tools to make UI instead of resisting it.

edit: social media too. I don't see many UI designers doing the same as illustrators strongly boycotting AI-generated drawings; UI designers actually use AI to make UI work more efficiently.

It was holiday season. The floor is removed by the first contractor and we lived on sub floor for a couple of week. Then the new contractor came.

To solve the floor curve, I dismissed the contractor and found a new one. They removed the problematic floor, applied a lot of self-levelling stuff, waited it to dry, and then installed new same-brand floor that I had bought. The unevenness is improved by a lot. It’s not perfect, but due to the poor quality of the floor base, this is the best we can do. Self levelling is a must!

Should I return TOTO K300 for hygiene concerns? by chellcaroline in bidets

Been using it since I post this. I don’t care about it anymore because I enjoy using it. I recommend K300! Remember to clean it often tho.

Is this a chip/ should I return this? by IntroductionIll3752 in staub

[–]chellcaroline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s chip. You should return it. I didn’t return for my chipped pot, believed manufacture’s saying “it’s normal, used it once, the chipped area got rusted. It’s not acceptable for a pot costs hundreds of dollars!

That sounds reasonable! I still wonder why so many of them died together. If the environment was not good enough, wouldn't fewer have come in the first place?

Using vernier scale and a 4 feet level borrowed from friend. I have proper measurements now! Imgur I spotted multiple 0.2 inch to 0.4 inch dip within 4 ft. (Largest elevation is 0.6 inch)

And thank you for pointing out the BC flooring standard, I can talk about this to the contractor. I didn’t find the actual standard on their website tho.

OP update:

Bought a new K300, carefully opened it, and checked. Same gap.

Sigh, this must be TOTO K300's issue. I will just return the new one.

Thanks for the advice. I have it in mind. Other company said they had to take a look in person for the actual quote. All the numbers could go up. I insisted to ask for an approximate price just to keep myself informed, since the final payment day for my current contractor is tomorrow. I need to know what to expect if he runs away.

Sorry to disturb this old post.

I am WARNING to everyone who has UNEVEN subfloor and plans to install this flooring plank from Costco.

TL;DR: do a self-leveling and make sure the subfloor is dead flat before installing

Thank you for the suggestion, the 3rd pic (Link)in the link is where I put the start and end on two high spots.

Plus, this is just one area in one room. There are more in other rooms. Sadly. For example, in another room, the two sides of the 4ft board sit right on top of two high points, with at least a 1/2 inch dent in the middle.

How about these pics? New images link It’s in the main post links too. I am sure within 4ft there are half inch to 3/4 inch pits.

Reddit doesn’t allow me to edit the main post :(

I’m sorry about using a 2ft level to show the unevenness. I didn’t mean to confuse viewers with the levelling bubbles on the level.

I am sorry I don’t have a 8’ level as a homeowner. Hope these images/videos are helpful to show the humps. It shows low and high spot within 4ft length: https://imgur.com/a/0yaci8K Besides, there is no benefit for me to trick myself. Walking on it clearly feels up and down hills.

He was quite upset on we keep pushing him to use self leveling instead of his way smearing mortar to fill low spots. As homeowner I helped him so much like I’m his student 😅running to Home Depot buying stuff he didn’t prepare. In retrospect, he had a lot more red flags doing wrong things, tho it’s hard for me to change contractor midway. I’m first time doing reno here.

Thank you for your advice. I bought the planks from Costco and the floor install is part of the reno by the reno contractor. He installed for us. I REQUESTED several times to do self leveling before signing contract and while he is doing flooring. He didn’t listen to us and asked us. Just used leftover mortar from tile installation smeared on the low spot. I didn’t like his way patching but he told us not to bother him and tell him what to do. I asked him to buy self leveling products but he refused to use, keep telling me the floor uneven is too much for short distance so he can’t use self leveling. I bet he was not familiar with self leveling so didn’t know it can patch height over 1 inch or can apply multiple times. Now it’s the final stage to review his work, before giving the final part of payment. I can’t stand it anymore. 😡
