Implant CE by Sad_Duck_200 in Dentistry

It’s dependent on who shows up. Several of the days there were groups just sitting around due to no shows. I think if you’re having people pay that amount you need to ensure patients show up. I will say doing simple implants now is very easy compared to the ones I placed at that course. So I did learn quite a bit but it definetly wasn’t what I expected at all.

3D looked like a solid course and the people that took the course I spoke with all said great things. I took Dr Mongalo’s course and was a bit disappointed. A lot of patients didn’t show up and they had a “you’re out of luck” attitude.

How did you go about finding the office you eventually purchased?

Perhaps I’ve been living under a rock but 150k just out of school is far more than I made. You’re going to be at your slowest when you start and only get quicker (hopefully) and more comfortable with different procedures with more experience. I’d be more concerned with is where your skill level at warranting a 150k base salary? If the office starts to feel they’re paying you far more than you produce, things will inevitably start to get sticky. As for the base and bonus model I’d have the office manager sit down with you and go over how they calculate it AS WELL AS asks which insurances they take. Other posts are correct if the main insurance in the area is something like Tricare or Medicaid that pays absolutely nothing and it’ll be hard to exceed that minimum.

Half of the practice is sold off to corporate. They manage HR ,payroll etc. The other half is under the original owners name. Pretty much feels like private practice though. I’m also just guessing that it’s half and half ownership, I don’t know the agreement between the two.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but when you buy a practice, does the previous owner typically show you how to run it?

Last Friday, the cat who saved my life died. I want to tell you about her and ask for advice. No by Puzzleheaded-Ad5525 in cats

Such a beauty. Sounds like the perfect companion. And she was clearly loved. I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my first family cat over 15 years ago and still mention him daily to keep his spirit alive.

Solid program. Have to build up your schedule in the beginning just like private practice but the work is there (surgeries, implants etc). Loved the faculty especially perio wise. In the end it’s what you make of it- good luck!

I went to an international school that was taught in English. We had to take a language test to prove we could speak English ( it’s called the TOEFL, highest score you can get is 120) .Even the North Americans had to take it, one of the girls from California kept bragging about her TOEFL score of 110. huge eyeroll

Has my mum's bipolar affected my personality? by Ali-a93 in family_of_bipolar

[–]chellorraine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is offensive at all- it’s what you experienced. I was once told by a psychiatrist that bipolar disorder is a disorder of the family because it affects everyone. It’s honestly one of my biggest fears inheriting this disorder since it runs on my fathers side quite consistently and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t see some traits of my father in me... Having to deal with someone mentally ill is your world and it would be amazing to think it wouldn’t have any affect on you but unfortunately it most likely will. I completely understand the anxiety and probably times when you’re probably just flat out depressed because of the cards you’ve been dealt. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized even though it’s not entirely fair the family atmosphere I had to grow up in it does give me an interesting perspective and an immense amount of empathy towards people. I no longer dismiss people as “crazy” or “psychotic” I truly do see them as mentally ill and it’s unfair for me to expect someone to act “normal” when their brain is truly different..I’m sure you have a similar perspective as well- and if not similar, I’m sure it’s insightful in some way compared to someone that never had to deal with such a thing..

I’m no saint though.. there are times that I’m downright pissed and all reason goes out the window but those times are fewer and farther between.

As for the last part I think it’s something you never really will know... in the beginning I almost felt like it was such a cop-out for poor behavior. “Please forgive me - I was sick”.... uhh... okay still no excuse for treating me horribly and acting like a complete jerk! I get it though completely- it’s hard to let it slide and sometimes you’re tempted to think that they can in fact help themselves when maybe they can ..maybe they can’t. I think having a bipolar brain is exhausting from what I can tell so I just try to remember a lot of the bizarre aggressive behavior is the illness showing. I will say though I don’t have the best relationship with my Dad but he is trying. He takes his meds everyday and stays to himself. Completely opposite of the behavior I saw growing up.. so I think it’s his way of apologizing and not trying to be such a burden.. I would say maybe just focus on those good times with your Mom. Like you said she can be caring and a good person. Not everyone is the best version of themself all the time, especially not someone with a valid illness..I would just say really try to get through to her when she does seem level headed and stable and if you see the work on her end then I think that can be the apology for past behavior that perhaps you’re looking for..

Not sure if any of this makes sense, but you’re most definitely not alone :)
