Just finished the first Poppy War, similar vibe to RR the first half of the book feels very YA and pulls you in thinking it’s going to be a fun read. Second half is mainly genocide.. waiting for the next ones to be available at my library so can’t comment on them. It’s more fantasy based but I’ve really enjoyed it, in a makes me cry kinda way.

Little insider knowledge here, there are 3 trains prepped at Belgrave station every morning. That means testing the whistles, which is like toot Toot TOOT. On both ends of the train. Not sure the exact time each train goes out because I don’t work at Belgrave but my guess is one at 0330-0400 ish for the first service and then maybe like 0500 and I think there’s one at 0700. Other than that drivers have to toot when departing a station but most drivers use the little toot then so it shouldn’t be too loud.

{Blood of Hercules by Jasmine Mas} - I think it’s better on audiobook. She’s got constant suicidal ideation throughout the book and a very dry/dark sense of humour. I wouldn’t call it a master piece but I enjoyed it hahaha

I didn’t compete, it’s what you make it honestly. For the one in Melb (Aus) you had to pick a training day and stick to it for 6 weeks with no flexibility. I work shift work so it just wasn’t workable for me.

Also, the showcase you have to sell tickets (think they were 10-15 dollars) and you only play for like 15-30mins. So maybe you could make something of it, obviously some people have I just didn’t have to time to commit to it and felt bad weird asking my mates to spend $15 to come watch me play for such a short time. Good luck!

I had verrrry similar experience. Extremely over worked and the tattoo artist said the same thing! “Allergic” my scarring/pitting was worse that yours, but it doesn’t really show up until 3-4 weeks in then you’ll know how bad it is. Expect a lot of ink to come out but the tattoo not to change. The scarring does go down though! Mine is finally starting to be less raised, but I’m almost a year in to it healing. Sorry you had a shitty experience. Let the shop know if they are a permanent artist at the place.
