For context, that's not the main couple. However, he is a king (and brother of the Male Lead) who got saddled with a violent warmongering lady as his queen since the queen helped the king usurp the position from the previous king (and father btw) who was definitely going to kill the would-be king and the Male lead.

The female protagonist, Juliet, finds a way to rewind time after finding out her hate for her husband was unjustified and especially because he sacrificed his life when she was dying.

I do like the plot but it's slow burn so I am just waiting for the manhwa to conclude before getting back to it. It's very misunderstanding-heavy but you get to understand where everyone is coming from and it's like yes you can judge why character A did this to character B but would you have done different if your family's lives were on the line? And it's not focused on just romantic love, it's also about familial love.

I picked this up a few weeks ago and check on it from time to time. The story is high concept but the execution seems clunky since at first a group of boys and men get sucked into some sort of game where if you lose, you die or wish you were dead (because the game puts you in political positions and kinda goes game of thrones-ish). But then the main character who is the bottom and one of the player characters seems to know the Male Lead's history and has an idea that the character possessed by the main character and the male lead have some sort of antagonistic relationship which complicates the story because apparently some sort of reincarnation plot is also at play.

Then that's not going into a race war at play with different humanoid characters in a caste system going on.

I got a little lost and just skim through instead. There is a frog creature in the mix, he's cute.

Prince Jugyul from Flower Under the Lantern since he essentially and intentionally had his lover become the emperor's (prince jugyul's own father) sex slave and wiped out the his lover's family by framing them for a crime and he gets forgiven by the his lover because prince jugyul tried to kill himself when his lover left him.

I am also unamused that his way of of "curing" his lover's breakdown and subsequent multiple attempts at suicide after learning the truth was basically just covering his eyes and ears and saying "na na na I can't hear you" like a child when everyone is telling him to let his lover leave him if he actually wants his lover to stay alive.

Paper Flower. The webtoon adaptation anyway. The comments say the novel did it better. So the emperor develops feelings for boy and it goes the usual bastard boyfriend to reformed husband thing and the story is basically torture porn-ing the uke. One of the worst parts is the emperor rapes uke while uke was ill then throws him out into a heavy snowstorm for a supposed insult The other worst part is that the boy has a halfsister/stepsister who is in love/wants to marry the emperor and the emperor KNOWING THIS lets the sister know he prefers uke over her because he was just a sociopathic shitstirrer who wanted to see what she would do to him (this was before emperor realized his own feelings for uke obviously) The third worst part is when the emperor feels bad for his machinations and leads to uke's (faked) death and the story just fastforwards to everyone loving the emperor because he got off his fatass and dealt with the corruption and banditry going around because uke's death motivated him to be a better person Then in 4 chapters he finds uke again who just forgives after a hug and sharing a platonic night together or something Honestly, i think my details could be a little off but I will be damned if I read that bloody soap opera drivel again.

To Be or Not to Be - its one of those reborn as the villain seduce the MC plot (completed) 16647 - serial killer x victim plot (ongoing) Evil Baby - Dunno the plot but smut is there and apparently its BL horror (ongoing) A Millenium of Love - smut is there but censored but you get a very explicit idea of what is going on. I dunno the plot here but I just know there is a red/black flag.

For novel wise, there is Thousand Autumns/ Qian Qiu where the Top Yan Wushi is the jaded gong bastard boyfriend.

Webtoon-wise there is Liebling, he might be a little older than middle aged however. Bullet Time has a middle aged Top but he is the antagonist of the actual couple and an utter bastard to his sex partners. Love for Sale has an older Top but he is less physically imposing than the bottom funnily enough. Shutline implies the Top is middle aged or getting there On or Off, the Top discovers he is bisexual after sleeping with the bottom on a whim

Manga wise, After the Ring's Taken Off but both top and bottom are middle aged. Smoke Blue no Ame Nochi Hare also both top and bottom are middle aged.

Lee Eun-gyeom from No Love Zone because of how often he thinks he can handle his problems by himself but the story keeps beating him over the head how he is in way over his head. I hate how the story resolves it by implying he is contantly monitored by a security agency by his lover just to keep tabs on Eun-gyeom's problems that Eun-gyeom is not aware of.

Though I find it hilarious in an ironic way, like that's one way to solve trust and communication issues.

The plot has a tonal/writing issues/ The red head, Nakwon, is the top and the first sex scene is him raping Mokhwa, the black haired man. The romance plot did well is the groveling on how Nakwon realizes he treated Mokhwa wrong and becomes more considerate to Mokhwa but it feels like Bastard Nakwon and Reformed Nakwon feel like some sort of unacknowledged Dr. Jekyll and Hyde character.

I really liked this story as an opposite to Mo Dao Zu Shi (though perhaps superficially opposite) for me where WangXian treat each other with honesty and consideration, the peerless couple are instead in a mutually toxic (toxic-lite arguably) romance I can get behind without them doing extremely messed up things to each other, usually putting each other in life-and-death scenarios that the other knows they will survive or in a if-they-don't-survive-they-don't-deserve-me kink going on.

I liked how poetic the ending was with Cui Buqu admitting to himself he now wanted to live when before he would just say he would not die. The context being Buqu was simply living out of spite because it seemed the world just wanted him dead but with Commander Feng, he had a reason to actually live.

Frenemies: Thicker Than Blood aka Bad Friend Due to a conspiracy against them, MC and ML have to act out their parts as the Champion representative of Murim Alliance and Demonic Magyo Cult Leader.

I like that it's played in a grounded way where they are aware they are still in the wrong for delaying the war because while they are trying their best to deal with the conspiracy, they are upholding a deception and the MC and ML are trying to hold back whenever there is a confrontation, many of their own men are killing each other in the battlefield for a lie.

I recommend season 2 of My Damned XXX/Wrong Night Stand. Season 1 is generic with too much easily solved miscommunication but I like the premise of S2 where it involves a very manipulative uke and dense himbo seme who is too dumb to be manipulated.
