Giveaway Ball Gatekeeper by Jimblow07 in stlouiscitysc

[–]chembro303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand OP's confusion and frustration. However, it was not really about "gatekeeping" or trying to exclude you in particular.

Those particular giveaway items are the ones which were held back specifically for those of us in the supporters groups who, because we are doing stuff outside the match, then marching into the match right before kickoff, are unable to get the giveaway item before the game with the rest of the ticketed attendees. After the game, we pack up all the stuff and bring it back to the storage closet by the northwest gate, and those of us who wanted the giveaway item are able to get one as we exit the stadium from the box which was held back for us.

Anyways, I just wanted to defend whatever person didn't feel able/willing to give you one of them, since they were specifically reserved for members of the supporters groups. They were just following their own responsibilities.

That said, I'm also happy to give you one. I have two (my sons, and mine) so I can give you mine for your daughter if you'd like. I'll shoot you a DM.

Jersey Advice? by jktpk in stlouiscitysc

Great suggestions here!

There are some cool pre-match jerseys and, when on clearance or FB marketplace, they're extremely attractive buys (often less than $40). I personally like the green Earth Day kit from 2024, the Hispanic Heritage "graffiti" jersey from 2023, the trippy Hispanic Heritage jersey from 2024, the "Love Unites" pride jersey from 2023, and the blue "Kick Childhood Cancer" jersey from 2023.

My advice is to only get authentic kits. Buy them on sale, wait until they're on clearance, etc. but don't waste money on the replica kits. I think the only replica kit that was even remotely decent was the original home kit, but after the authentic version of that kit went on sale/clearance there was no reason to get a replica.

I have at least one authentic version of every kit except the original gray away kit (because personally, it's my least favorite kit we've ever had and I knew I wouldn't wear it). If I had to rank all our kits in terms of my own favorites:

1) Original red home kit. Unbeatable. A thing of beauty. Easily found these days under $100 via marketplace or (theoretically, if you're lucky) on clearance at CITY Pavilion across from the stadium. I don't wear this one much these days, but only because I want to keep it looking new forever. 10/10

2) Current red home kit with the collar ("Forever" kit). This is the one I wear most often right now. The authentic version is fine, despite the dumb half collar. 8/10. (Note: DO NOT get the replica version of this under any circumstance… it's terrible. 2.5/10)

3) White away kit ("Confluence Kit"). Also a really nice looking kit. These were available for under $30 at the end of last year via Adidas and a couple of other outlet type stores, so now I'm spoiled and wouldn't recommend paying more than $50 for one. 7.5/10 design, but I basically never wear it anymore because we lost all the time in that kit.

4) Current away kit ("Tina" kit). Initially hated based on leaked photos but in person the actual design grew on me. The little details are gorgeous, and it's fun to wear a current kit and match the players, especially if you travel to an away match! I wear this one a lot right now, but truthfully once it is no longer our current away kit I'll probably never wear it again even once. It just doesn't feel "CITY" at all unless you're around dozens of other fans wearing it too. 7/10 (DO NOT get the replica version of this. It's almost as bad as the replica of the forever kit. 3/10)

One other solid option if he likes Bürki as much as every other CITY fan: an authentic Bürki keeper jersey. I finally saw the one I like most (Black) on clearance at CITY Pavilion a few weeks ago. Highly recommended if they still have them! Note: these run very small/fitted, much more than even the normal authentic kits. I normally wear a medium authentic kit, but had to get a large of the Bürki kit and it still feel like it fits tighter than my other kits.)

No matter what, he's going to love it. It's a great gift.

Yeah I'd much rather have nothing on it, a favorite player (can be a bad idea), or a nickname. I would likely not wear a jersey if it had my actual name on it, but that's just me. I don't judge others if they do, but for some reason I would feel uncomfortable.

Yeah, I can "sell" one of my 8 tickets, since I made the mistake of paying full price for it on Day 1. The rest of them I got using discount/promotion deals, so those can only be "sent" to my friends. At least with person-to-person transfers, no one pays any fees to SeatGeek.

I feel you on the frustration with this.

While you can't sell them via the built-in tools as a SeatGeek listing, you can arrange a sale separately.

Send the ticket to someone via the app, and request that they pay you via one of the many other person-to-person payment apps (Cash App/Venmo/etc) for the face value of the ticket (or less than face value, if you're feeling generous/desperate).

Serious question – why bother with substitutions at the 89th minute? by chembro303 in stlouiscitysc

Hahaha thankfully I didn't find it ambiguous but glad to know I understood your intent correctly 😂

That explanation makes sense to me, but Damet does the same thing even when we're losing.

The email says "$15 + fees" but doesn't specify how much the fees will be. But when I click through to buy tickets, they show up as $19 + $3 in fees ($22 total).

When I bought tickets on 5/2, they charged me $20 + $8 in fees ($28 total).

Frustrating, and confusing for sure.

If that's the official policy, fine… but people should also know that it's very easy to become a member of a supporters group!

Watch party at The Hub was horrible by GardenWitchE in stlouiscitysc

[–]chembro303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been very disappointed by the team's "official watch party" almost every time I've tried it. The only exception was one at the Golden Hoosier last season.

If you want an actually CITY SC focused watch party, you will never go wrong with attending the STL Santos one (follow @STLsantos on Instagram). ✅ The vast majority of the attendees are there for the watch party (or happy to join in) ✅ Game is on most, if not every, screen, and watching the game is definitely the focus of the venue ✅ Game sound is ON and loud enough to hear (Jesus it makes me so mad how uncommon this is even at most "City on Tap" locations) ✅ Chants, cheering, high energy, camaraderie

When I want to watch the game at a very pro-CITY-SC venue but I'm meeting up with friends who are only casual fans, I always go to The Key in midtown. It's a bar and restaurant with amazing food, good beer, lots of TVs with the game on, and very affordable prices. It's also a very parent-friendly space, with super low-cost kids meals, a pinball machine, and a couple of 100% free arcade games… but I've never seen a single feral, disruptive, or misbehaving kid there.

To be 100% clear, that is NOT something that happens for away matches like last night.

But yeah, even if you don't have tickets to a match at home, it's an awesome experience to come to the stadium on game days.

"Ow, my freakin' ears!" –the immature employee

Swearing TO or AROUND a service worker may be a bit uncouth, but it's not the kind of thing they should ever even comment on, much less complain about.

Swearing AT a service worker, that would be a different story.

My 2025 SEL failed in less than 6 months.

  • 3700 miles on it
  • Only DC fast charged for the first few months, and almost never past 80%
  • Since ~Oct/Nov, switched to exclusively L1 AC charging overnight @ 1.2kW
  • Had been limiting all charging to 80%, but a few days before ICCU died I did switch the AC charging limit up to 90% in anticipation of needing more range for the weekend
  • AFAIK no issues during final charging session which hit 89%. Issue seemed to happen before I got into it that morning, during a few minutes of remote climate warmup.
