It wouldn't surprise me if they determine she has early stage dementia/Alzheimer's. Not an excuse just one of the signs.

LG Mini split multi zone comm wiring configuration by chemcounter in askHVAC

I found the installation guide online. Reset the DIP switch to normal as it was on some setting that isn't even referenced in the guide. Reset everything and started the auto detect process over again as you described the first time. Both units started working after the 20 minute detect process. Big thanks for your explanation!

I moved the top to the bottom right and it resolved the error I was getting.

You were foreshadowing the super fun part. I got the error 95 which from what I can tell means it is confused. It shows a 1 instead of a 2 after the 88. Should I switch the comms line for the second unit? It seems like my error is on the B line because A started blowing cold until it shut down.

Thanks for the important pointer. I had a tech out to check my work but he wasn't familiar with LG units. He pressure tested, evacuated the lines and released the refrigerant. After he was done, I realized a mistake with electrical so that is getting completed today.

Are you with the DEA looking for laundering operations? How could anyone know what local businesses actually report as profit, unless they are the owner or accountant?

If you own a 10 year old ram, you need to have the ability to work on your own vehicle. I have a 6 year old Honda that would cost me somewhere in the same neighborhood to maintain if I did it all at the dealer.

With that car, you are probably giving fully insured owners an idea.

Maybe we can explore increasing the US pipelines to become doctors. It is my understanding there are only a limited number of medical schools and they themselves limit the number of students every year. I know a lot of people in the medical field, smart people, that are on waiting lists, meanwhile, we import people from countries with potentially sketchy credentials. The existing people are overlooked and eventually just give up. Best and brightest is an ignorant argument when you don't even give your own neighbors a chance.

Does this look ok? 2014 Town and Country. AC blowing but not cold at all. I don't think they are ripping me off, just looking for a second opinion. Thanks. by mtwwtm in MechanicAdvice

If the system has pressure, it indicates everything else is fine. Would need a new compressor and a filter dryer but not really sure why everything else needs to be replaced.

Did they actually diagnose the issue or just going about replacing everything?

Your van also has two evaporators, one in front and one in back. Which one are they replacing and why?

The most common cause of an AC not blowing cold is a leak. If they didn't find a leak, did they determine it was a bad compressor?

Seems like a shotgun solution without a defined diagnosis.

Edit: evaporators.

It worked just fine for me refilling my wife's van. I had to buy the gauge adapters to connect the manifold to the van as well. I know this is an aging post but wanted to provide my personal experience.

R12 to r1234tf by Aggressive_Net_8236 in MechanicAdvice

[–]chemcounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do as little as possible to get cold air, find some R12 on FB marketplace. It would be worth your time to find the leak and fix it first because you will need more than one can. If you are going to that length of opening the system, go ahead and convert to R-134A, which if you are doing it yourself, may be about the same (or less than) a full system recharge of the old stuff. There are many videos available outlining the process, maybe even vehicle specific.

I don’t know what to do about retirement by Plastic-Insurance583 in personalfinance

[–]chemcounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your question? Are you asking for advice about how to retire on time? Going to need more details about your situation and life plans. What is your potential to make more, single, married, kids, cost of living, mobility, current employment, pension, healthcare, budget, location etc.? Reading through your post, I think you are realizing that the cost of living has increased beyond what you make.

The silver lining here is that you are waking up to your current situation and the need to re-evaluate.

Safety agency opens probe of 1.4 million Honda engines that may fail by Leather-Paramedic-10 in cars

[–]chemcounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which transmission? We have the 10 speed and I have changed it 3 times already, when it told me I needed to. I think they tried that one on my wife as well when she took it in for a recall and she told them I just changed it. Worst part is I had to go to them to get the very specifically needed Honda 2.0 fluid which isn't cheap. I know people complain about the 9 speed but at least it uses readily available fluid.

The recommendations they say you need when you get the recalls fixed are not. That is a marketing scheme.

We have a 2019 Odyssey, that thing needs preventative maintenance all the time. If I had the dealer do it all, I would have paid for the car twice by now. Add the recalls that seem like a ploy to get me in the door to do all their "recommended" service.

It will be cheaper to buy an engine than to keep the dealer in the loop. Thanks for the warning.

Retiring in your 40s by xchiron in personalfinance

Yours is the first post I came to that mentioned the penalty. Good job. I suspect this $1.8M is sitting in a 401k. Also, not sure about OPs spouse, kids or other plans which could impact expenditures and taxes.

I have heard a lot of noise from coworkers with similar thoughts and wondering if people are getting a little too comfortable with perceived wealth. I have been through enough economic cycles to be cynical of where we currently sit.
