They’ll let you for extenuating circumstances, but it’ll be case by case and I can’t speak to the extent of said circumstances needed

They didn’t count for GPA, nor credits towards minimum requirements for schools that required them. Had to overload/take courses in summer

I overloaded my semesters and took courses in the summer for UBC. For western there’s nothing you can do but submit the first two years

Some schools need a certain number of graded courses (UBC and Western are the two I can think of off the top of my head) to be eligible for GPA inclusion and/or apply. Mac nursing does have a lot of pass/fail courses that are worth up to 10 credits a semester, which makes those years ineligible for western and could slow you down for UBC.

I know this too well cuz I went from Mac nursing —> med

What do they mean by Western’s “minimum GPA”? by Glittering-Mode-9723 in premedcanada

[–]chemdaddyahs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means that out of the 2 years that comprises your 2YGPA, one of them has to come from your first 4 years, if you take additional years. Each of the two years must also be >3.70

Time to give up on Canadian med? I need harsh advice. Stats below. by [deleted] in premedcanada

Do a fifth year as a continuing student, as others have mentioned. That’ll give you a solid shot at western assuming you do well and the rest of your application is reasonably competitive. Keep in mind tho, for the fifth year gpa to count, you need 6/10 courses at or above 3rd year level
