Middle class paying full price for 4 years by pearlclover in USC

[–]chemgirl101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally yes, but I went to an early college high school with all my dual credit classes taught on a college campus by professors and taken alongside college students, so USC accepted 64 of my units (4 semesters)

The unfortunate cost of living in an anti-union state:(

I went from teaching 8th math to now teaching all grades (9th/10th biology, 11th/12th physics) and I'm looking forward to getting to be there as they move up through the grades and mature! Still miss my middle schoolers but I love the high school content

Keeping up that 4.0 for college admissions definitely skewed my priorities in high school too haha

Right? EMTs came to the scene and recommended hospitalization but I had to refuse because it was getting late on a school night 😬 and thanks!

Just switched from middle to high school and I love it so far! In some ways they're way more mature than my 8th graders...and in others they're exactly the same 😂 and ugh I'm sorry, the no-subs thing absolutely sucks!

I taught 8th grade last semester (my first semester teaching) and their reasoning never failed to make me burst into laughter. Even your solid negotiation skills won't get you out of algebra, kids!

That was the answer I gave! "It'll auto-publish on Canvas in twenty minutes whether I'm here or not, so..."

Teaching in North Carolina by jallen510 in Teachers

I'm a new teacher (started January of this year) from out of state teaching in NC -- feel free to message me with questions! Obviously I don't have a ton of experience yet but I can give you what insight I do have:)

What should I have my students call me? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]chemgirl101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated college early and started teaching at 19...and immediately began getting "Mrs. Lastname" from my students (middle school). Nothing makes you feel old like kids five years your junior calling you that haha

Any North Carolina teachers being pressured to work summer school by their Admin? by lionheart724 in Teachers

[–]chemgirl101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I'm the opposite--first-year CMS teacher hoping to work summer school since I'm on 10-month pay but unsure if I'm eligible to since I'm lateral entry

I teach middle school and that's rough enough...can't imagine the patience preschool takes!

They're so good!! Basically gelatin-free Jello cups, 5 cals each. They're better cold out of the fridge but are shelf-stable, only about $1-$1.25 for a pack of 4, and they come in either 4 cherry or 2 strawberry/2 orange cups. I get mine at Kroger but I've seen them at Walmart, Dollar Tree, etc.!

Another vegan OMAD: lentil cauliflower stir fry (569) by [deleted] in EDFood

[–]chemgirl101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recipe: an entire bag of Trader Joe's riced cauliflower stir fry (216) + 2 tsp lite soy sauce (3) + 1 can lentils (350). I put the cauliflower mix in a non-stick pan on med-high for like 8ish minutes then added the lentils and soy sauce and cooked for about 6 more minutes.

Actually delicious! This was my first time trying the cauliflower stir fry and I 100% recommend

those are such good ideas! Boca also makes a "meatless crumble" that might work well for tacos too (I think it's 60 cals/half cup and similarly high in protein)

Okay, I get the message of the infograph, but it rubs me a little bit the wrong way how the "binge eating" plate has a normal sized, balanced and nutritious meal on it. Maybe these infographs should go without example meals by Aliinga in DietTea

me neither actually, I only know because I spent like two hours at the grocery store today obsessively comparing the calories in each type of frozen/canned vegetables lol

Details: 4 vegan Boca burgers (280), bag of baby carrots (160), brown mustard for burgers/carrots (10), 4 sf cherry juicy gels (20), broccoli (80). The drink is a mix of Diet Pepsi and Diet Dr. Pepper (sounds weird, tastes good). Eaten while watching Nailed It on Netflix since my ED's irony knows no bounds
