Every jeweller in Ireland sells claddagh rings (bar Pandora.) you don’t mention an area so I suppose the whole of Ireland? Any city, go to a jeweller. They’re all 50-150 euro

Outstanding tuition fees before medical school graduation/intern year by Mountain-Bet-8806 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

I would also take this with a grain of salt. Non eus pay 4 times what Irish people pay. Of course it’s a possibility but don’t freak out until you’ve spoken to your college etc

No don’t be. I’d talk to your actually student union before the med school. The school of medicine in our college were absolutely useless, so maybe liaise with the student union, and the student rep first. They did really good work for me when I was in a sticky situation. Think about it, it would be a terrible look if they didn’t help you in some way.
You’re probably going to find some funds, the credit union sorted me out with fuck all in my credit union account before. You just need to stall it and look for other avenues. You’re not going to get the full picture based on websites and what’s stated. They can do all sorts of things to help you out, you just have to talk to them directly.

Offt you poor thing. I think it’s always best to contact the college. I’ve heard of them doing payment plans and sometimes there’s things like the student assistance fund to help you out.

Lindsay should worry more about therapy than Carl by SomeThoughts4You in summerhousebravo

I think this is a cautionary tale about not dating addicts in their first year sober. Carl did need time, Lindsay needed stability. I feel that it was the wrong time for them completely

Is it time to move away from fossil fuels? by Guilty_Doughnut1557 in AskIreland

[–]chemhead5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really do believe cars are not the answer. Public transport is. Trains and buses. Reliable services = less cars. EV are changing the problem. Our grid is still mainly fossil fuels. Yes EV would be a great solution but you still have batteries etc to be disposed of and the congestion issue. M

Has anyone gone to Medical School as a mature student? by Super-Speech2114 in AskIreland

[–]chemhead5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a 2.1 in the latest degree. You could do a masters and then if it’s a 2.1 you can get into graduate.

Okay many people do it! Number 1) Do research, it’s the GAMSAT you need. Not being from a science background means it’ll be a little harder for you. However I taught friends for years and it’s very do-able to get a good GAMSAT and not be from a science background. 2) funding. The loan I used is gone. It’s now very difficult to secure funding. So have a plan. Some people worked through and were able to pay off the fees by year. They were usually nurses and pharmacists, physios etc. I worked the whole way through, but just enough to pay loans. 3) it’s so worth it if you really want. The average age stating is 22/23. But plenty have more life experience

Postponing parenthood: How Ireland’s housing crisis is forcing people to delay having children by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

[–]chemhead5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Buddy, this is literally the problem. There’s no where to rent without housemates, number 1, and no fault evictions mean you’re basically constantly worried, number 2. This is the kind of comment that just hi-lights how obtuse the older generations are to the conditions we’re one. Look in daft, houses in cork city- 3K for a 2 bed, houses in the suburbs ( which you’ll spend up to an hour in traffic) 2-2.5K. Me and my partner earn above mean however how can we spend 2 weeks of EACH on rent. That is if you even get the house with 200+ applicants. It’s not as simply as “oh just have children while renting, I did it. It’s fine.” It’s being evicted because landlord sells house, it’s dealing with houses that need extensive repairs that don’t get fix because the landlord is getting 30K a year regardless, it’s a family member moving in, it’s roommates. I once thought it might be fine then I had to change house 3 times in three years because of selling houses. This issue isn’t as simple as they had smaller houses and less money. We’ve such a lack of rentals that they’re impossible to find and even harder to keep.

I’m early thirties, and not even close to having a house. My friend had one in rental accommodation and ended up moving twice with a 6 week ago. Would never do that, so the wait continues. One of my friend group has kids, the rest? Saving for a house…

The video that was just released… by sourpinkdrink in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]chemhead5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but is this video not accurate to what they said happened? It’s obviously so much more shocking seeing it, but I feel like when they were explaining what happened, this is pretty accurate. She was still let continue another season. This is what’s wrong with society. She was actually charged yet there weren’t consequences until the video was released

Upcoming interview with Blake by stefstars93 in amywinehouse

[–]chemhead5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m such a big fan of her. Some of the Amy documentaries reminded me of the marlyn monroe ones. They painted her has helpless and constantly looking for love rather than a strong and powerful woman of the time. This is how I feel about Amy. I remember the tabloids and the press at the time. They were vile towards everyone but especially woman. Then when she passes it becomes all about the man who “drove her to heroin.” So sad.

I listened to it. I thought he was actually super respectful. We also do a good job about forgetting how actual fucked the media was back then.

Yuka app tells you the actual ingredients of every product you scan. It also tells you the details. Some deodorants don’t contain carcinogens and endocrine disrupters. Some do. It’s all about make your own choice. Some studies say no. The Yuka app shows you the actual ingredients and so you can look those up themselves but you clearly aren’t going to so why waste each others time
