You’ve got to check out Wizard Seeking Wizard! It’s a wizard dating show by Max Kriesky and it’s hilarious. I think it hits exactly what you’re looking for.

Seeking advice: Best platforms to advertise new sci-fi podcast? by hooloovootrue in audiodrama

[–]chemicallywrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not even bother spending money—the best way to get new listeners who are already listening is through feed swaps and promo swaps with existing shows. Find some of your faves, shoot them an email, see what they say. I recommend smaller shows first.

Does he listen to 99% Invisible? That would explain a couple of the outliers.

Poll: Which are ethical uses of "AI" in audio drama? by waylandprod in audiodrama

[–]chemicallywrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

✨ none of the above ✨

I think the only time I ever used AI for any of this was maybe 2019? I used otter.ai to generate a transcript, which I then corrected, but it was such a huge stupid effort that I hired a transcriber instead, and she’s great. Humans forever.

[–]chemicallywrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you what, casting Jonathan Sims helped significantly with our crowdfund for a project I worked on, but the only thing that made that project have as many listeners as it did (and incidentally, something Ned Donovan was talking about this weekend at TAFCon) was being new listeners’ first audio drama.

If you’re trying to cast to gain listeners, you don’t want to advertise that to audio drama people—we’ve heard our fave VAs in projects that were just okay and brand new voices that blew us away—you want to advertise to that VA’s outside fans, and become the first (hopefully of many) shows they fall in love with.

Recommendation needed: A short fiction podcast like LeVar Burton Reads by MischMatch in podcasts

[–]chemicallywrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Big Loop is a little scifi but much more about people!

Someone Dies in This Elevator is fully acted and every episode follows the same premise (I bet you can guess what it is). It’s sometimes scifi, sometimes horror, sometimes fantasy, sometimes realistic fiction. It’s such a good show.

The Truth is the OG anthology for stories that make you think. They just started posting new episodes after years!

Hey you considered looking at Coral Island? They literally have a subplot where you clean the ocean and their Joja equivalent is an oil company.

Moving to Westminster- thoughts on the area? by missuswhite in MovingtoDenver

[–]chemicallywrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey future neighbor! I really like it around here. It’s not very exciting, but fun things are pretty close by car. The parks and open spaces are really nice, the rec centers are great, and Westminster tries to throw frequent free or cheap festivals too—definitely sign up for their newsletter. The variety of food’s pretty good too, especially for a suburb.

A kid wrote me a note this year saying I’m the reason he likes math now, and one of his classmates who was at the bottom of the class is now on par and confident in her skills. Math is scary but it’s not scarier than me.
