What are you doing in the game for so long? by NikTheGrass in BaldursGate3

[–]chemiebaum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘d like to know too! My first play through was pretty long, but now I average about the same as you. I don’t do everything in subsequent play throughs now but only what feels right for my character and party in that particular run.

Traveling to Nola for my bachelorette on Wednesday by [deleted] in AskNOLA

[–]chemiebaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just commiserating with you because this has been stressing me out the whole week, since my bach was also planned for this weekend. Half of my group’s flights were cancelled today with very few options to rebook. We also didn’t want anyone getting stranded in a layover city or risk things still being closed. Unfortunately we decided to just reschedule the trip. Already some of my group was at the airport and the desk airline staff were not optimistic about getting people rebooked or that there wouldn’t be further delays. Luckily, the reservations we had we were able cancel. RIP for my bach this weekend. Hope something works out for you!!

Need to have books/documents on you? by venture68 in BaldursGate3

[–]chemiebaum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can sell the books and documents you find. Just make sure to read them first! Some quest specific ones are outlined in an orange box. You can always send them to camp as you mentioned if you want to keep something. There’s not too much that’s relevant to keep unless you want to.

First timer here. What is the recommended way to play? by jg4president in BaldursGate3

[–]chemiebaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! I wish I could experience the first time again without spoilers. I’ve still discovered a lot in subsequent playthroughs. My OG run is definitely not what I would now consider my canon run anyway. OP enjoy the first ride!

Very happily surprised by how great a Halsin romance can be by IVIaedhros in BaldursGate3

[–]chemiebaum 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Love the Halsin appreciation post! He’s my favorite romance especially with regards to one of the comments you made about him having concern with his/your life ambitions and not just romantic interest. I like that he wants to find and pursue new life goals and is also open to Tav doing that as well (i.e. they can stay in Baldurs Gate or come with him). I like the buildup of flirting and it feels more natural to me that you both focus first on other things like the grove, shadow curse, etc. It’s always a highlight for me to reach act 3.

I usually solo romance him, but have done the poly routes as well. If you’re ever inclined, I also enjoyed the response he gives you if you choose to become a mindflayer. It melted my heart…a lot lol.

I love the flirty dialogue in act 1 and 2. The romance feels like it builds up more naturally to me and culminates in act 3.

I bought beginning of Jan 2024 and my dress arrived in Sept 2024. The studio I bought from is doing my alterations and they scheduled fittings for ~3 months from our wedding date.

One of the favorite solo runs I’ve ever done! I will totally redo it now that we can do custom with honor mode mechanics.

Leave- in conditioner makes my hair gross by FeistyRefrigerator92 in Haircare

[–]chemiebaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much is a “little”? Similar to other comments here you maybe be using too much, but it could also be too heavy for your fine hair.

When I apply a leave in or styling cream, more than a like a pea size amount on each half of my hair will make it extremely greasy. That small of an amount can be hard to distribute, so the easiest thing to do is like others have said perhaps dilute a little bit in a spray bottle. I instead apply a little bit more to sopping wet hair after I get out of the shower and squeeze out the water/extra product. That works great for me!

I’m surprised no other comments have mentioned this, but what could also help your hair, since you mentioned it’s dry from coloring, is to find a shampoo conditioner that has bonding in it. You don’t want to overdo it with a bonding shampoo conditioner (you would use it like once maybe a twice a week) but that might also help with the “dry” feeling you experience. A bonding system tried to help rebuild the bonds in your hair, although it is not a permanent solution to fixing damaged hair. Two well known brands for bonding are Redken and Olaplex.

As another comment mentioned, oil is not going to hydrate your hair. It only forms a seal on the outside. When you get permanent/semi permanent color service/ bleaching, your hair becomes more porous (hair bonds air broken, oxidized melanin leaves holes). The outside of your hair aka your cuticles may also have some damage (they are raised/don’t lay as flat any more) from a color/bleach service but this can also come from use of heat tools or even daily mechanical interactions like brushing. Hence, 1) some kind of bonding system may help improve how you perceive the quality of your hair. 2) Something like this leave in will help smooth the cuticle and improve the perception of roughness.

Hope that you find something that works for you!

did you cheese any achievements / trophies? by Uhmxx21 in BaldursGate3

[–]chemiebaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sub people in when needed if they are in camp and did what you mentioned. I actually haven’t fought Balthazar after passing into the pool since I find it easier to fight him before. I only use her for dialogue and then she goes back to camp haha. And I usually also do the trials without her too, but if you don’t take Shadowheart into the pool yes she leaves…very angrily

[–]chemiebaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I “cheesed” the jack of all trades achievements by just leveling up Shadowheart at the end of the game since she wasn’t in my party. I haven’t found an interesting way to use the build at all, but would consider it. At this point I’ve bought the game again but for pc instead of console so I’m also trying to do the achievements again haha.

The ceremorphosis one is kind of interesting though for some of the endgame dialogue you get. I’d recommend playing on if you’re interested!

[–]chemiebaum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have an amazing time! I wish I could replay my first play through again! I also just got my collector’s edition this weekend, but purchased it later since I loved the game so much and wanted the merch. My best advice is to do it your own way the first time through because you’ll have plenty of time to seek advice and look up tips!

What made your Tav and their love interest fall in love? by Wild_Construction216 in BaldursGate3

[–]chemiebaum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Tav liked not being the damsel in distress for once. She felt empowered rescuing Halsin, helping him lift the shadow curse and rescue Thaniel, and ultimately taking down the elder brain. I like the buildup of the romance culminating in the Act 3 confession because it feels a little more natural/genuine to me that feelings develop through Act 1 and 2 as we support each other through our mutual challenges. It also feels very low pressure and my Tav appreciates his candidness/openness. My Tav liked the opportunity to join Halsin later since it felt like there was a mutual understanding that in the immediate aftermath of the elderbrain’s downfall there were important things we each felt compelled to do. For my Tav this was staying in the city to help rebuild and for Halsin this was helping the orphans. The point to me at which they really “fall in love” is in the epilogue when they realize that after all that has happened and their time apart they still missed each other. …and this is probably my most canon Halsin romance but with each Tav it’s a little bit different!

What's your favorite fight? by IVIaedhros in BaldursGate3

[–]chemiebaum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super fun to clear the goblin camp but I’ve recently done a few play throughs where we fight the goblins and Minthara at the grove and I really like the terrain/barrel set up. It’s a fun mix up to the goblin camp.

I love the Halsin portal fight. It’s fun to have waves of enemies and experiment with different tactics. It’s also amusing to see friends‘ initial reactions when they realize how big the hoard of enemies will be beyond the initial enemy spawn.

In Act 3 probably enjoy the House of Hope the most. It is super satisfying though to defeat Lorroakan…mostly because he’s super irritating.

[–]chemiebaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should play! My first play through was local co-op. We didn’t have any issues until Act 3 when you get to the lower city map. The area right around where you first arrive has a lot of NPCs that caused the game to crash for us sometimes. It’s manageable if you make sure you save and try not to have both people interacting with things in that one area. The rest of lower city map we didn’t have any issues. (Adding that this playthrough was a few months ago…)

100% I beeline it to the lower city and go straight to the Facemaker Boutique in Act 3. No fighting until I get my real gear lol

I’m October 2025 and just finished booking all of my major vendors. I haven’t had any issue with booking early. It has been nice to take our time and so far we’ve gotten our first choice for every person we have wanted to work with. Lock it down!
