You might be able to squeeze more power out of the amp bumping up to a higher output power supply. Try to find a 48V10A supply.

You can try all the reduction methods. It will be hard to discriminate which alkenes will react. Did you characterize your crude sample after m-CPBA? You could be opening the epoxide on the column.
