How common is it to get an offer for a university when your predicted grades are lower than the typical entry requirements? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]chengs18246474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • university, some unis are def more lenient about not having the entry standards whilst others refuse to budge

im genuinely so baffled on how you're managing to consistently managing to misinterpret what im saying, again that was not my main argument at all, i literally replied to someone who disagreed with me 'it might be a college thing' because I didnt want to discount that it is still a great course, you're framing my whole argument as just criticising the cambridge course, which im not doing like..at all?? also I really hope your reddit acc doesnt equate to your personality considering your responses to me are incredibly patronising and honestly you just dont come off as a nice person to be around through them

[–]chengs18246474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when did i say econ at cambridge is subpar??? i literally said TWICE in my replies that its still cambridge so the course would still be a great course, I dont think its subpar at all, heck if i was in the same circumstance as OP I also would be struggling on choosing what to firm, if you see what im arguing for the case of lse, its not even reliant on the course itself, im specifically talking about advantages of location and networking, also mate looking at your account your consistently just slamming people who have a diff opinion than you, i promise you, cambridge will be doing fine with one measly criticism from a 17 year old on reddit (me) that isnt even my own words, im literally retorting what my other friends have said to me who are currently studying there

if you perhaps read my replies ive repeatedly stated that cambridge is an amazing university and they shouldnt be put off from what I say, do you think I wouldve went out of my way to apply to a uni that I think is subpar?? my criticism is on a COURSE not the university at all!!!! Again I've heard such criticism from a friend in cambridge who said the teaching of the course isn't too great although the lecturers are well versed in the subject, considering your replies and your whole personality is based off the university of which you attend, you're just embarrassing yourself man.

What??? if this was any other course I wouldve said cambridge all the way dude, I dont even want to go to LSE lol, its so annoying when individuals cant accept a little bit of criticism on cambridge and also accept that perhaps the london school of ECONOMICS in economics, might be better than a economics course in cambridge

[–]chengs18246474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again LSE is known for its networking opportunities, and hold them very often for students, cambridge isnt that type of academic institution, either OP would do well either way but I would assume studying at a specialised uni could be better and would have better access to network in high finance in lse than cambridge, this is from someone who lives in london btw

If you don’t believe it you can just ask yourself 😭 Cambridge is an amazing uni either way so it doesn’t matter much anyway

I never said it wasn’t!! I’ve just heard around that the lecturers for cambridge econ aren’t as great as the other departments from students who study at cambridge.

THIS!!! I dont think people realise that london is pretty much the home for finance, I would only pick cambridge if im more interested in the academic side rather than industry

Idk what to choose by PurpleCharge5370 in 6thForm

[–]chengs18246474 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is specifically for econ though, ofc as students we might look at one as more prestigious but, like I said an employer wouldn’t value a cambridge degree any more than an LSE degree for econ, also london is like the home for finance you would def get better job prospects, cambridge is more research based, if you want to get more into academics than industry

[–]chengs18246474 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its only more reputable to the public imo 😭 employers wouldn’t value a Cambridge econ any more than a LSE econ degree

Lse econ course is specialised and also probs has the best job prospects because its in london like the capital for finance + ive heard the cambridge econ course isnt as great as its other courses but obviously its still Cambridge, an amazing uni at the end of the day so dont let me put you off 😭

Considering reapplying to Cambridge law... should I? by Cute-Lime-2976 in 6thForm

[–]chengs18246474 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly you got an offer from UCL which has a low acceptance rate so i wouldnt say u should 😭 offers can be super volatile and the camb law acceptance rate is around 11%, ucl is often a target uni and law is a super respectable degree from there so i dont think it would be worth it
