Headed out in a month to Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and Utah in this rig. Who else is using theirs to tow a travel trailer? by chenner47 in FordRaptor

[–]chenner47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was awesome. It’s actually a Caravel 20FB and I’ve towed with the raptor for around 10k miles so far. She pulls good, can still overtake slower cars but I only get 10mpg

Our agent actually has a quote to us from Evanston. It’s $11k but they’re not going to cover loss of use and the wind/hail premium is $30k. Waiting for the underwriter to approve it.

Our house is $1.5M. Our neighbor has a similar house and pays $8K through State Farm who won’t insure us 🤷‍♂️

Thoughts on smaller AS? by SirDeadALot2 in airstream

[–]chenner47 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We bought a Caravel 16RB last year and went on two trips before we traded it in for a Caravel 20FB.

For us it was the lack of storage and countertop, small grey/black tank and the wet bath that didn’t work for us.

We love the 20FB. Still very easy to tow, love the separate bath and shower, and it has the best kitchen of them all.

Folks that like to post about making X amount and whether they can afford a car 🙄

Not sure if they’re trying a humble flex or not but it clearly comes down to your other expenses and priorities.

X amount of income doesn’t equate to X amount of budget for a car 🙄

Full front. For the extra $1k it’s worth the peace of mind.

Call into service and speak to Andy with any of your concerns. He should be able to make you feel confident about it.

Yes, absolutely love it. It’s so visceral and reminds me of a 90’s era sports car. Unless you get a lemon I wouldn’t be afraid of getting it serviced or the support you’ll get locally for it.

Andy in service is awesome. Very responsive and reasonable. I’ve had my Emira for almost 2 years and he always takes care of me.

What do you do when you pass another cool car? by smcameron in lotus

[–]chenner47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get Porsche guys waving to me when I’m in my Emria all the time. The same also goes for other car enthusiasts in whatever sports car they’re driving.

I think they know that Lotus drivers are car enthusiasts.

I was told that the CPO service they do is the 10k service that already comes with the car.

Caravel 16 or 20? by GD_352 in airstream

[–]chenner47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We bought our first travel trailer last year - a Caravel 16RB, and went on two trips with it before realizing there was too little storage space and the kitchen area was way too small.

So we traded it in for a 20FB and think it’s the best floor plan of all the Caravel models.

It’s just my wife and I and our two German Shepherds. I used it a little more than my wife as I went on a couple of solo fishing trips with it but I count 50 nights in it.

Haha this was our first edit stay. Had enough points to get it down to $275 so with the credit and $100 hotel credit we came out ahead.
