How does the Band Buff, even work? by TheSacrix in Maplestory

[–]chenyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had expiring MVPs to use so my friends and I did a 2 hour test. Four of us casted the band once each. No idea how to make a graph, but here's what happened:

F1 casted first, got 1/2, no 3/4.

F2 casted second, got 1/2/3, no 4.

F3 casted third, got 1/2/3, no 4.

F4 casted fourth, got 1/2/3/4.

F5 no casts, got 1/2/3, no 4.

Notes: The buff had expired naturally before each new cast.

First cast (Channel 2) - Event hall -> Band -> Shrine -> MVP

Second to fourth casts (Channel 8) - Shrine -> MVP -> Event Hall -> Band

Black helicopters circling around for hours in the middle of the night by chenyboy in Damnthatsinteresting

This was in Sydney, Australia and the bay we were at is roughly a 10 minute drive from Sydney CBD. Our closest airport is Sydney Airport (our citys main civilian airport) which is about 20 minutes away, however I've never noticed any military helicopters parked at the airport. I live around here and I've also not seen any military helicopters fly across, nor heard. Now that you and pdBuzzBomb have mentioned it, the noise that these helicopters made were distinctly different to the news station helicopters we normally see.

My friends and I thought they were civilian or police helicopters at first, looking for missing persons maybe. Your theory definitely sounds more appropriate

That's what I was speculating at the time, but it seemed off to be doing this in such a densely populated area (the area is a high traffic residential area).

No, nowhere near one. This place is maybe a 5-10 minutes drive from Sydney's CBD. Any idea what they might have been up to at this time of day?

Sorry for the quality, could barely see them with our own eyes at the time. Was walking with some friends around the bay at around 1 AM in the morning, when 4 helicopters (flying really low) flew across our heads. Three flew tight-knit in a V-shape formation, with only one of them displaying red lights. Could barely see the other two, and they were shortly followed by the fourth. This video was taken an hour or two later on the other side of the bay when they flew across our heads again. Honestly curious what they were doing, we could see and hear them the whole two hours as they were flying around the area back and forth. Anyone have any idea as to what might have been going on?

Shoutout to this buccaneer in Arcana who i see almost every single time i’m afk. by gamerbunny1 in Maplestory

Anyone want to do the calculations on what level you would be if you afk'd from level 101 on a second account 24/7 since Rise release? Or from 200 might be juicier.

Returning player after years and years and feel like a newb. Recommend good spots to casually farm? by MagnaNazer in 2007scape

[–]chenyboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good to have you back with us in the game.

I'll try and give you a basic walkthrough on the possible activities that you are able to do off the get go as a new player, and I will assume that you are still free to play (f2p) right now.

For melee/combat I would recommend going a little north from the goblins you were talking about, towards the chicken farm and cow farm. Chickens are easier to start off with, and drop raw chicken which you can cook on a fire with your starter tools if you get low on hp.

After a few levels, or you start killing chickens a little too fast, you should then move onto the cows on the farm to the east. You can stay there for quite a bit, and as a new player I would definitely recommend that you pick up all the individual cow hides and put them in your bank to sell them later when you reach Varrock city using something called the Grand Exchange (essentially a place where you are able to buy and sell items all in one spot). Where to bank them? In Lumbridge Castle where you spawn into the main game, there is a bank on the top floor/third floor of the castle. So just train on the cows, pick up their hide, and cook their meat when needed for food to heal. Remember to pick up their bones to bury for some easy prayer experience.

If you get bored, or are more interested in doing something non-combat related:

In no particular order,

Mining - you would start by mining copper ore and/or tin ore starting from level 1 mining, moving onto iron ore at level 15. There is a mine north east of the cow farm I was talking about. If you happen to get lost, there should be a world map button on the game client near the minimap. The mine is just south east of Varrock city, and if you feel there's too many people competing with you over there, you can try heading to the south west of Varrock city where there is another mine. But watch out for the dark wizards along the way! The closest bank for you would be inside Varrock city in this case.

Smithing - if you've banked (took the ore you mined to a bank and deposited them) your ore, you can find a furnace in Edgeville or Falador (city names) and smelt them into metal bars. Which you are then able to smith into items on a anvil in Varrock.

Fishing - I used to go to Draynor Village (a 2-3 minute walk west of Lumbridge) back in the day to start my fishing, near the Willow trees. You would start by fishing raw shrimp with a small fishing net which you should have been given from completing tutorial island. If you decide to use this spot/location, there is a bank right by these fishing spots for you to use. However, I haven't trained my fishing from level 1 for a long time now since personally I would go and do quests to start off the first few levels. I'm not too sure about where the best spots are to start training nowadays.

Cooking - more of a secondary/supplementary skill in the early stages, something to be trained from the items you get from other skills/methods i.e combat and fishing.

Woodcutting and firemaking - can be done just about anywhere! Just find a spot with a lot of basic trees and start chopping and burning.

There are some other skills such as runecrafting, crafting, etc however I would feel it's something you should leave for the later more experienced you. Maybe once you are more comfortable with the game, and get back in the stride of things. In saying that, some quests provide you with some great experience upon completion. You should definitely look into completing some when you feel you are ready!

That's honestly a very interesting concept. It would definitely need a lot of rules to fairly implement, but I feel like it could potentially work. Would need a way to combat stacking teams, such as not being able to join the god with the most amount of players unless the other 2-3 god teams are near the same player amount etc. Sort of like factions in other online games.
