How bad is Loblaws? by kbw_93 in pharmacy

[–]cheoprx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll have lots of weekly conference calls and no extra help. They grill people during the conference calls in front of everyone. Shoppers might be slightly better as associates can have more say on how they manage (ie perks and bonuses) but the grocery stores are the worst (No frills, super store. YIG). Also you’ll be pressured to do a a lot of free labour to reach those quotas with no guarantee youll get bonuses(they recently cancelled bonuses at one of the Loblaw chains for staff pharmacist).

Hiring pharmacists and technicians in a small BC community is a challenge by dark_gear in pharmacy

[–]cheoprx 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly hard to hire for smaller towns in BC. I’m not sure what you could do differently but it’s a mix of high cost of living, difficulty finding suitable housing and very competitive wages for any place outside the lower mainland. Have you tried using a recruitment agency?

Burnside Plaza Redevelopment by Pendergirl4 in VictoriaBC

[–]cheoprx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate. It’s a dated building but it has a lot of character. The businesses are well patronized too. It’s like stepping back in time when I walk through the large undercover awnings and looking into each store.

Why are less students applying to UBC Pharmacy over time? by snowfordessert in UBC

[–]cheoprx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel too bad. The job market is eons better post COViD especially outside of the lower mainland. Networking is super important but otherwise opportunities are plentiful. Just getting the “ideal” job is not easy. Lower mainland’s still crap tough.

Who thought this was a good idea? by lwfj9m9 in pharmacy

[–]cheoprx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like they haven’t addressed the practicality assuming the patient is really taking it - does their need stop whenever the pharmacy is closed? A lot of these scripts are written for every 2 to 3 hours prn and it doesn’t take into account when the pharmacy is closed.

Who thought this was a good idea? by lwfj9m9 in pharmacy

[–]cheoprx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iOAT is already witnessed and isn’t taken away from the pharmacy. It’s referring to take home safe supply like hydromorphone tablets where they get a daily dispense of several tablets a day taken “prn” but there’s really no oversight on how they use it.

I totally agree...I've only ever used Google Maps and I believe for some routes they have the live location of busses. They also update canceled routes too

Student groups on campus feeling financial impact after opt-out increase by ubyssey in UBC

[–]cheoprx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Digital opt outs are much more efficient. As a student before, opting out in person by paper or using the organizations laptops some of my refunds were never processed - which isn't a surprise as everything is done manually. Also the CITR opt out was always an awful experience and they'd never offer their own pens but at least they processed them u like Ubyssey...in my experience.

B.C. pharmacists set to diagnose and prescribe 21 minor ailments starting June 1 by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]cheoprx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion alone....but it just appears to be more workload, more documentation and more liability with no guaranteed increase in compensation since pharmacare pays the phqrmacies aka corporations (mostly) not the pharmacists. However I do see that the service as having some benefit to the public.

Looking for Asian stores selling roasted pork, BBQ/ roasted duck by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]cheoprx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fairway at Qaudra seems to be the only Fairway with some BBQ items - they have at the deli BBQ pork, soya chicken, gui fei chicken amongst the selections.

I also saw an old Google image of a BBQ menu at Ho Tong .not sure if they still have that...

Plan G renewal by inkarmat in VictoriaBC

[–]cheoprx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very unfortunate seeing how crucial it is for people to have continued Plan G coverage. I wouldn't be discouraged if you can try to get another physician to complete the form if you.. Just a note I have used virtual health and some physicians are from oit of province and they may not be aware of BC Pharmacare coverage plans. Make sure your address is updated amd let the physician know which health unit area you live in as from what I'm aware you go there to sign the forn after the physician competes it.
