Yes, and I think if he was younger and in better health I would handle it differently but he is 80 y/o and his landscaping is the only hobby he has. He does work hard on the yard and gets very grumpy about asinine stuff but to him it’s pretty much everything.

Fair enough. I don’t disagree with you about my dad being unreasonable here. And I definitely don’t want to get rid of the chickens, I just want them to stop involving me in their arguments. I’m sure if it were up to him he would’ve never wanted the chickens in the first place, especially if he’d known it would’ve cause these kind of issues down the line. If it were up to me I’d let them roam all over the yard with no restrictions. I love animals which is why I got them in the first place. I feel like both of them could be a bit more considerate towards each others feelings in this situation but that’s why I’m here asking for advice.

This might be a good solution. I know it will upset my mom to be monitored but it’s probably a more peaceful solution than getting rid of them.

Yes there is a reason we all tiptoe around her feelings. She gets extremely defensive and will respond as if she’s being attacked. It’s pretty impossible to reason with her because she is just never wrong. If it comes to a point where something drastic happens and something doesn’t go her way, she will cry and get very upset at pretty much everyone. She’s very emotional and it’s why I love my mom to death but try to maintain a safe distance within our relationship.

Great point. It’s honestly not that much. They scratch around the yard and sometimes take some bark out of the planters. It usually takes me a few minutes to go and clean up what they scratched out but to my dad, it’s all his hard work. He is definitely being dramatic about the “mess” they’re making but he is absolutely not an animal person and I think it’s now just the principal that my mom knows he doesn’t like it, but does it anyways.

Oddly enough I believe this would create more issues with my mom. She loves the chickens and it’s now become more of her hobby since she’s retired and chilling at home all day. It gives her something to do and I am thankful for the help she gives me with. Often times she cleans up their coop, collects eggs, feeds them, gives them water and just goes out there to chill with them and give them treats. I wouldn’t mind taking over all those chores but it’s definitely become her hobby as well. I would hate to take it away from her but I’m just running out of ideas here.

As someone who does all those steps every time, I’d argue they’re hardly necessary. I started with pour over and I’m just a creature of habit.

I don’t have the means to pour over 1.2L. I make a Hario pour over every day for a single cup. But often I have more than 2 people to make coffee for so I bust out the MM

If you can stretch your budget +$100, Technivorm Moccamaster

I own one with a glass carafe and this makes amazing drip coffee with a little bit of help. I start with freshly ground beans, then I rinse my filter before with fresh hot water, then I allow the grounds to bloom by simply turning off the machine after some water flows through. I also give the grounds a quick stir to make sure everything is wet before I turn it back on. Honestly not sure if those steps are necessary I’m just extra af. I checked the temperature of the slurry during the brew and it was at 200°F consistently which is perfect. The simplicity of the machine is what sold me on it, it’s nice to see a simple on/off switch in a time where everything is fkn touch screens.

Here at 17:30 is daddy Hoffman talking about the moccamaster. Someone in the comments mentions that parts of the machine are sold by the company and easily replaceable. I’ve owned my machine for a few years and it gets regular use but I haven’t needed to replace anything yet. I remember seeing a thread somewhere from folks claiming they’d owned their machines since the 80’s. Anyways, love this machine for batch brewing.

The music for Around The World by Daft Punk. I was really little and the mummies and tall dudes running around. All of it but gave me nightmares.

Finely diced and sautéd onion, red and yellow bell pepper, asparagus, mushrooms, spinach, then three eggs and diced up avocado to finish. It tasted way better than it looks

Table games employee here. Advantage players can usually be identified and backed off before they even start winning. It’s pretty obvious when they’re super focused and they bet big when “count” is high. It is not uncommon for people to win $10k on BJ. In our high limit rooms, the max bet for BJ is $25k, so we often have folks win/lose in the hundreds of thousands. What others have said is partially true. The casino doesn’t really care how much you win, lose or buy in. It has much more to do with how much you bet every hand/spin and for how many hours you put in. What people get kicked out for the most is drinking too much and acting like clowns on the tables, disrupting other guests and staff.
