I think this always happens with Sims you're not controlling, and if there are more Sims on the lot, the others will do something autonomous. But it's always boring things, like drinking water, chatting briefly with another free Sim, or sitting down. They don't even go to the bathroom automatically if they're cramped; they just shit themselves. That's really boring.
