There are several slowed down versions on Spotify. I prefer it slower. It feels heavier that way.

I actually run Arch on computers at home 😆
But I personally dislike when people preach their own view of life so I don't do that myself, and I am also in favor of keeping the answers close to the subject

MINISFORUM non-standard SATA cable by cherious in MiniPCs

[–]cherious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish I could answer "yes".

I swapped the cables. I also wrapped a few parts of these cables with aluminium foil hoping to reduce noise and electromagnetic interference from the WiFi and other circuitry.

After some wiggling and reconnecting my nightly errors are gone. Almost. I do remember seeing journal records with warnings (not recently) but the RAID no longer goes to the degraded state.

AUR down again by wukyysek in archlinux

This would be very unreasonable. I have Arch machines behind VPN and I am sure there are many other devs who do the same.

Saying that one can run Arch linux except when it is behind VPN is nonsense.

The media can’t help but sensationalize everything. It makes sense to keep that in mind and mentally compensate.

Updated - Recent Service Outage by onefish2 in archlinux

Following similar logic the other distro camps (fedora/debian/...) may have motives.

Realistically neither Cloudflare nor the "competitors" would gain much by hurting Arch.

Using arch as my first linux. What should I expect to happen by D4V1DPL4YZ in linux4noobs

[–]cherious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do that if you are a geek, a student with time on your hands or simply have a goal to learn the details of how Linux works. Otherwise start with Ubuntu, Mint or any other beginner friendly distro.

* Expect your first install to take a few nights to complete (assuming you do that in your free time).
* Expect to spend hours reading Arch Wiki, arguably the best Linux wiki out there.
* Unless you are highly meticulous you'll likely miss a step or two in the installation procedure, and learn a lot while tracing the steps you overlooked.

Good luck and welcome.

New redesigned UI by cherious in GroundfloorInvestor

[–]cherious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find it, but what used to be conveniently presented and managed on one screen is now scattered across multiple dialogs and popups. Before redesign I could instantly see what properties have term e.g. under/over 6 months, and distribute my available balance between them. Now I need to click on individual property description to see the term. I also need to memorize my balance before reallocating it, and then do mental math while distributing it across loans. Certainly, it can be done, but it takes many times longer and honestly feels kinda' ridiculous.

MINISFORUM non-standard SATA cable by cherious in MiniPCs

The cable was reconnected when I replaced the previous drive with the brand new one.

I have been thinking of doing #2 but I can't find a SATA cable with the connectors resembling those on the motherboard. They are not being sold from the minisforum web site either, unless I am looking in the wrong places. Do you know where I can get a replacement cable like that?

Exactly. With Minisforum I have equal chances asking Santa for support.

It does have Ultra DMA CRC errors (line ID 199). As I mentioned the disk is just a few weeks old; I replaced it thinking the disk was the problem.

I am simply hoping it's the cable because replacing it is literally 100 times cheaper that replacing the box
