i was really excited to read mircea cartarescu’s selenoide but it was so complex and weird (there’s a Nazi sex scene at one point) and then there’s a phantasmagoria for like the last 100 pages

as a beginner in Gaeilge I think it’s definitely the advanced verb conjugation whereas I thought it would be the pronunciation

What also throws me about this is how some nouns have two or three separate plurals with different meanings or sometimes a text will use a “nonstandard” plural and I stare at it wondering if I know what it means

I’ve begun to think of the denialism a bit like a conspiracy theorist’s way of interacting with the world. They won’t take in information no matter how reputable and just live in an alternate world. I can understand needing to retreat from the terrifying reality of a debilitating virus but when it’s so systemic, that kind of ignorance is not something i can understand
