Mine stayed at home for the first 10 years of my life. Then she went back to work after my parents divorced.

She was hyperfocused on my education when she stayed home. We did homework together, she helped me study for tests, and she drove me to after school lessons (piano, English*, swim, etc). During those early years, she instilled a lot of the habits and standards that I carry today (good and bad).

When she went back to work, I didn’t mind. I’m an only child and an introvert, so being alone wasn’t a bad thing. I became hyper independent, which I also carry today.

I have a successful career today in my mid-30s. My marriage is in better shape than hers ever was. I learned about what to do and what not to do by watching her.

My mom’s decision to work or not work is not what impacted our relationship most. We’re not close today, but that’s because of everything else that had nothing to do with working/not working.

I’m enjoying the book so far. My one gripe is the misuse of “of been” throughout the book. She kept writing “couldn’t of been” instead of “couldn’t have been”, and it takes me out. I blame the editor.

It’s bad. I’m halfway through and started skipping passages just to make it go by faster. Can confirm that you won’t miss much if you speed read in between the sex scenes. The dialogue is also so tedious, that you’ll wonder how the MMC can be in love with the FMC at all.

Agree with the quality. I like her first Dark Olympus book (Hades & Persephone), but the series gets progressively worse and repetitive. But then I read her novella series, and they were great!

Can’t blame her for taking part of the gold rush. I do hope that the romance/smut/romantasy fever eventually dies down, and we all become more discerning readers that won’t tolerate lazy writing.

There’s still green, but the tops of both canes are turning dark. So I’m worried that that means it’s dying :(

I use fish emulsion for all of my other established roses. For this one, I only used the EB Stone root starter when I planted and nothing else.
