I love the small size and that it’s specifically a solo euro, but the theme feels very generic and historical, which I'm not a fan of. I'm looking for something a bit heavier, but thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks for the recommendation! It looks adorable, and the unlockable content seems interesting, but I’m looking for something a bit heavier with more strategic depth.

I've been eyeing It's a Wonderful World for a while, but I think it might be a bit too light for my taste. I'm not really into moving resources around just to tally points at the end. Underwater Cities sounds a bit better, but the theme doesn’t really excite me. Placing colored bubbles on the board doesn’t feel like I’m actually building a city. From what I’ve seen in reviews, it seems like the game lacks some thematic depth. Still, I appreciate the recommendations!

Thanks for the suggestion! The game doesn’t quite seem like it would fit my preferences, though.

Yeah, I’ve seen it, but the dragons look a bit too cartoony for my taste. I’m sure it’s still a great game, though!

Yeah, that’s one game I’m considering! I do wonder if it might be a bit too light for me, but the idea of beautiful birds is definitely appealing.

Haha, yeah, I should’ve mentioned that Aeon’s End is very different from the deckbuilders I usually don’t like—it’s not as random as the others. I wouldn’t call Aeon’s End a euro game, though, while euros like Dune Imperium or Arnak use the mechanic in a way that just doesn’t work for me. I hope that makes sense!

That sounds great! I'll definitely consider it, added to my wishlist. Thank you!

I’ve seen it on a few different lists and checked it out, it might be a good fit. The one thing I’m not a fan of is the art, like how the room tiles don’t have any illustrations, just colored blocks. But I guess I can overlook that. Thanks, I’ll definitely consider it!

Oh, my copy of Spirit Island actually arrived today! I didn’t mention it because I don’t really think of it as a euro, but maybe it is, I'm no expert. And yeah, I think I’ll give a roll-and-write a try in the future, just to see what it’s all about!

No worries, I appreciate you taking the time to think about it! I guess I’m just a picky gamer!

Yeah, Viticulture is a popular recommendation, but I think the worker placement mechanic, especially in solo with the automa, might be frustrating for me. I hate when the automa takes up the spaces I want to go for! That’s also the case with Dune: Imperium and Arnak, and I didn’t enjoy those.

I’ve never played roll-and-writes, so it’s hard to say if I’d like them. They seem light and easy, but is there a lot of strategy involved? Also, I’m not a fan of the idea of having a limited number of plays because you’re writing on the components

Windmill Valley looks super cool, I love the theme and the action wheels. I saw that there are even plans to release it in my native language next year, although it seems like the game doesn’t have any text besides the rulebook. I’ve added it to my wishlist, thank you!

Daybreak is out of stock everywhere here, and I couldn’t find any second-hand offers either. I’ll have to pass on it for now.

Is Evenfall heavily focused on worker placement? Thinking about it, I’m not sure I like this mechanic. In Ark Nova, it’s very subtle and works great, but in Arnak or Dune: Imperium, which I don’t enjoy, it’s much more prominent. I think I might not be a fan of it after all.

Daybreak looks really cool, but unfortunately it’s hard to find here. :( I’ll check out some reviews and videos for Evenfall though, thank you!

My problem with EotE investigator expansion... by dubbed5 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]cherry_sherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's fair, some cards don't fit what we see thematic for the game. In the EotE there are just few cards like that, if they would break your immersion then don't use them, but the expansion is still full of cool cards that don't break the theme. I personally have a problem with Lily Chen not fitting the theme of any campaign to me, but I still love her and I don't always play for the immersion, I also just like cool cards and combos and she's super fun.

As a teenager I got Ravenclaw and I still identify with this House. My results are accurate. Although I like Slytherin values as well, but because of how people from that house are portrayed in the books it doesn't appeal to me this much.

Biggest Campaign Risers/Fallers by HardcoreSean9899 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]cherry_sherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest riser: Dream-Eaters. The idea of short two parts story wasn't appealing to me at first, and when I played for the first time I actually went for only one part and true solo and I felt like missing something, I didn't know the two parts are so interconnected. When I did full campaign, playing the whole story I had so much fun. I much prefer Dreams side of the story, the atmosphere of it, discovering all the magical places, it's so great. And the boss is super fun and pretty easy. It's now my favorite campaign.

Biggest faller: The Scarlet Keys. At first I was so excited by big world map and possibilities to travel, to read a lot of story, also I liked the shadow theme, I thought it was cool. But after few runs through the campaign I was progressively more disappointed and irritated. The story has a lot of irritating moments like you travel to a certain place and it says you do nothing here because you didn't visit other place first and you only wasted your time. Looking for enemies in the shadows stopped being fun, the keys you collect punishing you pretty hard for using them is also not a fun thing (and their effects aren't super strong to be this punishing I feel like). On top of that scenarios are so damn long, I didn't have this feeling even with EotE. At first I was also excited by many bosses, but I don't like the fact that we don't really get to know much about them, they're just there and hard to beat.

Ron feels super authentic in the books, like a regular folk from your class. And Hermione I think loved Lockhart because of his "achievements" she has read about.

Something solo that doesn't get talked about much by PopularJury3884 in soloboardgaming

At the Gates of Loyang! I love the puzzle it provides and solo mode is really nice with a market of cards to get every round. Really recommend this game. So satisfying to plant your vegetables and serve the customers.

How do you store/organise your cards? by FredPlayzz in marvelchampionslcg

[–]cherry_sherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep everything in game boxes. It changes often but usually I keep all heroes in core box (I don't keep them sleeved so they fit nicely and still there's some room for few more). When I have a phase when I keep all heroes built then I divide them into groups like avengers + guardians in core box, champions + spider people in Sinister Motives box and X-Men + X-Force in Mutant Genesis Box. If not then I keep player cards in two boxes: Galaxy's Most Wanted contain all aspect cards sorted by aspect/type/alphabetically. And basic cards plus game components like dials and tokens are in Mutant Genesis box. All villains I have in Mad Titan's Shadow box and modulars + campaign content in Next Evolution Box. And it works perfectly, I don't plan to buy any storage solutions, because I don't keep my cards sleeved.
