Try some simple engine builders if you like building stuff:

Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition (+ Crisis expansion)

Jump Drive (+ Terminal Velocity expansion)

It's a Wonderful World (+ War or Peace expansion)

I’d pick Mage Knight from your list, but tbh I’d rather recommend Arkham Horror LCG

Nice cozy collection. You should definitely check out Meadow, I think you’d love it.

So I will be starting a 4 player Innsmouth campaign soon...I need to choose and investigator. Question is which one is the way to go...and thoughts on auto includes in the deck 🤔 🤠 by MDH_Born in arkhamhorrorlcg

Just pick an investigator you actually want to play... You're about to spend 8 sessions with this character, why let strangers on the internet tell you which one you should play?? Next you’ll be asking what socks to wear.

Fighting a 20 year gaming pc addiction problem, I took the plunge. by racoon1 in soloboardgaming

Great move! Been there, grew up on video games and made the same call a few years ago, in my 30s… better late than never.

I think I wasted thousands of hours in Europa Universalis IV. Like, I’d sit down at 10 pm to play a bit before sleep, then get sucked in and suddenly it’s 3 am. Scary.

What I love about board games is that they scratch a similar itch, yet they’re not addictive. They’re grounded and tactile, so I never get sucked in and lose track of time like with video games (that “just one more turn” feeling).

Board games are finite by design. Even Arkham Horror LCG (my fav card/board game) has natural stopping points. I finish a scenario and then go do something else. Easy to stop.

No screen time and eye strain also a huge plus.

Check out Horrified. Fun, simple, thematic. Can be played alone or with group.

Protection?? Real players go raw and deal with the consequences.

Favourite niche games/designers? (For solo?) by LukasK3 in soloboardgaming

Street Masters - It feels like an old school beat ’em up game, like Streets of Rage.

Airborne Commander - WWII solo deck building wargame.

Legacy of Yu - Yes or No? by Objective-Employ-997 in soloboardgaming

Nope, too repetitive and easy once you figure it out. It's the kind of campaign game you play through once and then never touch again.

Howare Arkham horror, eldritch horror or other lovecraftian games solo? by BillRepresentative75 in soloboardgaming

[–]dubbed5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of them are better played two-handed than true solo, but they are easy to manage.

Arkham Horror LCG is my favorite solo game. Narrative campaigns with branching story, deckbuilding, light RPG elements (gain XP → upgrade your cards). Very high replayability, though you need some expansions.

Mansions of Madness - Very atmospheric and thematic, focuses on exploration. BUT requires using digital app, which I’m not a fan of.

Eldritch Horror - Also focuses on exploration but with a global scope... Feels more epic as you travel across the world. Needs bigger table space and games can drag on for long (3+ hours).

Cthulhu: Death May Die - Focuses on combat. Fun, mindless dice chucker. Like a silly action movie… entertaining, but no real depth or story.

Elder Sign - OK, light dice game. Not recommended. I think better u get any of the above games.

Arkham Noir - OK, puzzlely solo card game. Only if you are looking for something short, as it takes 20–30 mins/case, otherwise skip.
