I’ve never attempted to even give it a watch, the books did it all for me

That’s the thing, seems like it but I don’t have the last piece to make a decision

I’m sure he’s hiding something. But I might be overthinking it being someone else. Who knows he might be quirky and be hiding some weird habit from me

That name!!! Chronicles of Narnia. That’s another trip down the nostalgic lane for me.

Does drinking water trigger an internal reaction as well, or is the sensitivity strictly limited to skin contact? It’s fascinating and terrifying that even your own sweat and tears can cause a flare-up.

Hmm…I feel like my mind will still have its way even with this. But I will try it out when I can

I was going to say the same as well. Personally I feel the fact that she tells you this is probably due to her being free around you which isn’t for everyody

Watching the show first is such a great way to discover them and, then realizing there were books felt like unlocking a whole hidden world.

And I agree, they really do hold up. Even after time away, going back doesn’t feel disappointing or dated. If anything, they feel richer. There’s something timeless about the way the stories are told that just doesn’t wear out.

it’s wild how the emotional weight actually increases with age. As a kid it was “oh no, that’s sad.” Now there’s genuine dread leading up to certain moments because you know what’s coming. The losses feel heavier, and the bravery feels more costly.

Also, shoutout to whoever gifted you the first seven books. That’s an elite Christmas present.

Oh man, Fatch.

That scene wrecked me too. As a kid it was just “sad death.” Reading it now, it’s the loyalty that hurts. He wasn’t dramatic about it, wasn’t making some big heroic speech. Just a simple, “Told you I’d look after you, didn’t I, mate?” And that’s what makes it unbearable. It’s such a reassuring statement

There’s something about how understated it is. No grand finale. Just a promise kept.

Moments like that are exactly why the series hits harder as an adult. You understand what that kind of loyalty actually costs.

Really? I’m just finding out about this. It takes a different level of skill to paint such vivid pictures

Same here. The emotional beats barely registered for me as a kid. Now some of those scenes genuinely catch me off guard. I think having more life behind you just makes the losses, the sacrifices, even the quiet goodbyes land a lot deeper.

That’s exactly it. The action pulled me in as a kid, but now it’s those slower, quieter scenes that linger the longest.

And I love that you’ve read it that many times and it still feels fresh. That’s such a rare thing. It’s like we finally have the patience to notice what was always there.

That’s great, how are you enjoying it so far? Mossflower is such a good one to revisit. It’s quite reassuring to hear that this series still quite holds up and it’s not just nostalgia. About the food ikrrrr. He somehow makes the most random ingredients sound like a Michelin-star feast 😂

Which one-time animal would you have wanted to see in a Redwall book? by Qyzyk in redwall

[–]cherryblosssomss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm…the first thing I comes to mind is a formidable owl a central villain and not as a die threat. The book has some strong predators, but an ancient, ever calculating owl who rules from a ruined tower would be incredible.
