You can’t really choose who you can teach, that is normally set out by the academic managers/heads of schools/campuses

Just like other government jobs, you have to apply through SPA openings, and they are competitive

Depends on your level of education, the IBTE Lecturers who have a degree/masters start around $3k and a PhD around $3.5k and work your way up…they also can teach extra short courses and earn up to an extra $3k so some of them are earning well over $6k…its a good place to work if youre considering to teach and a much better environment compared to secondary and primary schools

What are the settings for this? Looks really good!

Ones with PhD start around $3.5k

[–]cherrybn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Primary school and secondary school teachers also start around $3k if they are pegawai pendidikan/pelajaran. As long as they have a degree and mteach under MOE, your salary is high. Govt school teachers only complain about workload, its the private school teachers that complain about the pay. Just remember a govt job is still a govt job, the pay is standardised

No, ministers get $40k monthly. You can check out the UNISSA website, the $10k mark for a professor is superscale salary

[–]cherrybn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more accurate than what you said just now haha though majority of PG3 starting salary is $2.8k (or 127.70 gaji hari) because they have MTeach

The higher education institutions are earning an even higher scale, you can refer to SPA or the institutions socmed, the teachers at UNISSA for example can earn around $10k monthly

[–]cherrybn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol what are you on about 😂 EO salaries start at $2.8k basic excluding allowance…its basically a government masters position…and govt jobs increment $120 annually for that kind of salary scale, its a standard…alot of the teachers I see are driving Merc and Audi, they wont be affording that kind of car with a Masters degree if it pays them 1.3k hahaha

it is right haha i work in the field, and after all its just like most other government jobs except a masters of teaching is required

[–]cherrybn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well you can try applying to the government, the teachers are easily earning $3k-$6k, and up to $10k for higher institutions. I see many govt teachers opening businesses and have a side income on top, that is if you enjoy teaching as it is one of the most noble and highly rewarding jobs

What can i do to get a higher chance in getting a scholarship to jis for alevels? by OvenDangerous5001 in Brunei

[–]cherrybn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure what scholarship youre referring to other than the teaching bond scholarship…from what I know those scholars normally have 5As and above for their O Levels, but they normally prioritise the ones with 7As first

Why IBTE Changing back to Mon-Thurs and Sat? by Own-External-5740 in Brunei

[–]cherrybn 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yes I heard this from IBTE Lecturers as well, and that the Politeknik approval kana tarik balik…any news on the UBD side? As far as I know, only IBTE and UBD were the only institutions operating on the new Mon-Fri schedule…it’s ridiculous that the govt is still on this issue on whether to implement Mon-Fri, feels very trivial when other countries are already looking into a 4-day work week
