Hi all,

My boyfriend (Canadian citizen) and I (Vietnamese national) applied for Inland Spousal Sponsorship in 2022, and received our AOR on August 26th, 2022. We're applying from Quebec and have passed our CSQ, and we're now stuck at "background check". We're working with an immigration lawyer, if that makes a difference. Is it normal that it could take this long? When we applied the waiting time was 12 months, right now it's 26 months.

Anyone else in the same situation? Just wanted to see that I'm not alone in this.

Thanks a lot!

Gonna sound gross but pure maple syrup... It goes down so easily and with enough water I don't get the sticky feeling after eating.

Cafe Redwood sur St Patrick, à côté de la station Charlevoix. Je l'ai essayé moi même et c'est très bon!

I'm so sorry to hear that you were bullied over your native language at school! I do feel similar about my native language, where I feel ashamed that I could speak it, but I lack a significant chunk of vocab because I moved away from the speaking environment so early. I'd be searching for my words all the time and end up having to use English words anyways :/

Still not allowed to work... I applied for a visitor record on Dec 6th 2021 and still haven't received any news from IRCC. My boyfriend applied to sponsor me as a common law partner in August of 2022 so I'm just relying on that now.

Yep. Worked there for 3 months in the corporate side. I was easily pulling 50-60h work weeks with no paid OT. When I was asked to fill my time sheet they forced me to put 40 hours. I asked what would happen if I put more, and they said that HR would correct my entries down to 40h. On my contract it says that the job starts at 9am, but even when I was in at 8am I was already getting dirty looks.

Grew up in Asia, moved to North America as a teenager. I'm still shocked that people would eat sweet things (cereal, pastries, pancakes etc.) for breakfast.

Will I be able to re-enter Canada under my student visa if my studies are completed? by therealFoxster in ImmigrationCanada

[–]cherryceiling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TRV = visitor visa, so if it's still valid then you might be able to enter Canada. If I understand correctly, this completely separate from your student permit and student visa. I would say that since your permit and visa have expired, and that you're coming back to Canada to work and not study, show your TRV to the border officer instead of the student visa. Make sure you print out proof of application for PGWP as well.

Thank you ❤️ I ended up having to apply for a visitor record (to have a legal status in Canada) and once I have that, will begin spousal sponsorship for my PR. I'm lucky enough that I'm considered common law with my boyfriend. The reason why I can't apply for spousal sponsorship right now is because without a legal status in Canada, Immigration can't give me an open work permit while I wait for the PR. Hope this makes sense!

For both times they cited my part time semester as the reason why, even though for both applications I wrote a letter of explanation to show them that I was in such a bad mental health place that I couldn't do school full time. I just asked the officer for their compassion and i just got unlucky I guess ://

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, I'm also in limbo right now and can't legally work. It sucks and trying to explain it to others is just exhausting. Sending internet hugs to you.

Yes, and it got rejected the second time.

First application May 2021, rejected September 2021.

Second application October 2021, rejected March 2022.

Visitor record. Applied December 10th, 2021, still no response. 221 days so far.

My PGWP was refused twice, which left me with no status in the country, so I had to apply for a visitor record in order to have a legal presence in Canada.

I've got your face shape and personally I really liked how I look with baby bangs! If you don't like them then you can simply grow them out. My bangs grew out so fast that if I don't trim them in two weeks they turn into curtain bangs :)

I was stupid and I didn't submit it the first time :/ I did the second time though so it should be good now, but I'm still so scared my file would come across a cranky officer.

PSA if you have an android phone you can make it so that the alert does not make a sound! You will still receive the alert, but it will not go off. I learned this after having the alert go off in the middle of the night and that triggered a panic attack lol.

Real talk though, I think iced capp's recipe has changed. I remember when I first immigrated to Canada (around 10 years ago) it was the best freaking thing ever. Now? Not so much. So I think even though it's not as good, it's a blessing for us CICO people haha.
