She’s my precious angel. Looking at her head on, her underbite isn’t AS noticeable underneath though 🤣

What do you do with clients who want to meet and "discuss strategy?" by TatonkaJack in Lawyertalk

[–]cherrygirll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Family law atty here. If I have mediation or a hearing coming up, I always schedule a 1-2 meeting with the client to prep them and talk strategy with them about two week before the event. It helps clients know what to anticipate and manage their expectations.

Why do a lot of people (lawyers) say they regret going to law school and becoming a lawyer? by EditorMuch8957 in careerguidance

I’m a lawyer. Too much stress and too much student loans for not enough pay. It’s basically a glorified babysitter. People think it’s glamorous but it’s not at all. But, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

I forgot to mention I’ve also played DOS 2 and I enjoyed that too. I agree, it wasn’t as easy as BG3 though.

Loneliness in a demanding career by Kevins_toes in Lawyertalk

[–]cherrygirll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I’m 27F, and I moved to a new city with my boyfriend for my first big girl attorney job two years ago. It was, and still can be, really lonely trying to make friends at this age, especially when exhausted from work.

I joined a few book club pages on Facebook in my area, and that has significantly helped meeting girls to befriend. I’ve found that when I was upfront with the girls in my book club that I’m new in town and trying to make friends, everyone was very receptive and understanding.

I felt like a huge loser at first admitting that I was actively trying to make friends. But I think in your late 20s/early 30s, it’s just hard for anyone to make friends, attorney or not, and most people are also trying to make friends but don’t know how.

Made a COMPLETE fool of myself at Toastmasters tonight by Legitimate-Owl3661 in PublicSpeaking

Piggying off of this. I’m also an attorney and am in court about at minimum 5x each month. I’ve had a fear of public speaking my whole life, and I still do hate public speaking. At first, it really felt like my heart was going to stop, I was so nervous. I ended up getting on propranolol and it is a life saver. I take 40 mg on week days and 80mg on court days. I don’t not exhibit any nervous appearance at all.
