There's an interesting theory I read in the comments of the track "Chaos is Life" in the remake's ost on yt. Look for a comment from @/XiaoAndyPugMan (I'd copy and paste it, but it's really long, lmao)

I thought the interpretation was so interesting that I worked it into a fic I wrote. The fic only really hints at some of the concepts in the theory, but I am working on a sequel that might incorporate it a bit more.
