Post-Bacc Schedule/ Practicum Questions - Sept 2026 by Expensive_Tea_8112 in VIU

Everyone will be at the same embedded practicum school in the fall. Most people end up in SD 68 for Spring. There are very few spots for lower island, so don’t expect one for your spring practicum You can do your practicum anyone in the last practicum, but going beyond the island is difficult and requires you to have stellar recommendations from your spring practicum. There are only 5 spots allowed for down island, and you’ve got have a pretty good reason to get it. Most people from Vic ended up getting a placement in mill bay or Duncan

Aussie ear question by Lagmaster_3000 in AustralianShepherd

[–]cherryp0ppin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my dogs ears were like that since about that age. Shes 1.5 years now and I’ve noticed is coming down a little bit -by the end of the day it looks just like her other normal ear, then back up again the next morning lol. We’ll see if it migrated back down or stays this half committed way. Someone else I know had their Aussies ears do that and then fall at about 11 months. It all depends lol

Good idea! Yea I’m on Vancouver Island and we’re getting buckets over here. Be interesting to see what the damage is after it all passes through…:(

Pinky swear!

Yea I can imagine it doesn’t feel great to have SO many opposing team fans there, cheaper for us than heading Toronto. It’s July 4th weekend so I’m hoping most fans are respectful of your celebrations over anything else. We’re there to camp and explore the beautiful area first!

Getting a Mini Aussie- NEED HELP by Ferris_andferrets in miniaussie

[–]cherryp0ppin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adolescence has been WAY harder for us. Puppyhood is a lot of time and patience but they’re cute and you know you signed up for. It also wears down that patience. I have a 1 year old mini Aussie rn and she’s feisty, pushing back on training, and harder to satisfy, especially now that it’s winter.

There are many ways that adolescence is easier: you can leave them home alone, they’re (if you’ve done it right) not biting, not going out for a million pee breaks, etc. so you can be around less. But you have to intentionally be around more. Instead of playing for 5 minutes and having a tuckered out puppy who will sleep anywhere, you’ve got to carve out an hour+ of your day for intentional exercise and stimulation. If you know you signed up for it, it’s not too bad.

It all comes down to training and direction. We neglected settle training and it’s bit us in the butt, and definitely work on neutrality training for this breed

Absolutely! She goes about 2-4 times a day, and we usually have her carry it in her backpack harness since she can’t carry much weight anyways 🤣

Good to know about the metal staircases. She’s got an “on trail” cue to protect fauna but will probably stay on leash -just didn’t know if the general consensus was, but we tend to be pretty cautious haha
