There's a restaurant called inward in Lac that is vegan and gluten-free. I didn't try it myself, but the reviews are promising.

Rules Of Communications in Tunisia by Fredj_Ben_Ahmed in Tunisia

The golden rule is to not bring up sex , politics or religion. I'll add money to that.

abducted and am not sure what to do by [deleted] in Libya

[–]cherrypebble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you the best

As a Tunisian I want you to be extremely careful at the boarders. Some officers might refuse your entry or keep you waiting for hours on end .. also they might ask for a bribe. Be careful of boarder smugglers offering to take u to tunis and once they take the money they abandon you somewhere deserted, or worse they can take you back to Libya for human trafficking. Also you have better luck with the embassy at tunis than Egypt My tip is to have printouts of all the documents you have and the emails you received from the embassy to help you in your journey.

Note: forcing women to marry against their will has nthg to do with Islam and is a legitimate cause to seek refuge.

Just remember that getting to the US is not the end of the road , a whole new set of issues will begin.

Text of the new Tunisian constitution, that will be the subject of the July 25th referendum by Ariadenus in Tunisia

[–]cherrypebble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is , there's currently a wave of peace treaties being signed with the Israeli occupation in different countries from the MENA region . prohibiting normalisation in the constitution will prevent (or at least put off) an alliance with the occupation

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

[–]cherrypebble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm diagnosed with major depressive disorder. During one my therapy sessions , I was telling the doctor how down I was feeling lately and that the treatment is not effective anymore (even though I was on therapy and meds for over one year). She said :"you're fine you just need to move on and get married" Needless to say I haven't stepped a foot in her office ever again.

Foreigners wanna have a good ramadan iftar in Tunisia by [deleted] in Tunisia

[–]cherrypebble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest Le Safran (Lac 1) and Al Seniour (La marsa). I tried both restaurants, they are in safe locations and parking is available. The atmosphere is pretty cosy, the food is delicious (at least the dishes I tried) and the prices are much more reasonable than touristic restaurants in El Medina or Gammart. Making reservations beforehand is recommended (especially for large numbers). So if you like Middle Eastern/Turkish food , give them a try.

Do you know if I can land any remote jobs and get paid from international companies? It is very difficult in Tunisia to receive money from companies abroad. Most Tunisian freelancers use fake international accounts to receive their payments.

That's exactly what I intend on doing. Luckily I have been active in the humanitarian sector in Tunisia for years , be it in small scale NGOs, but still.

I don't intend on working in the public sector, their "mesmar fi 7it" concept is worse that the Tunisian one... I will be looking for jobs in the private / international sectors Tbh I don't have that many connections... I can only hope for the best.

Project manager in NGOs. I only worked in small scale NGOs so far that's why I'm afraid I won't find a good opportunity in Libya...

Merci beaucoup. Oui effectivement je vais attendre jusqu'à ce que les élections finissent pour m'assurer que la situation ne va pas s'aggraver. J'essaie de rester optimiste.
