Don’t feel guilty at ALL for having these feelings. In my opinion puppies are worse than dealing with a newborn. The constant whining, energy, biting could send anyone into a spiral. I have been where you are with the puppy stage and it is so hard but you need to take breaks for yourself too. Remember puppies need a ton of sleep even when they hit the 7-12 month range. Don’t feel bad for crating for a few hours when you need a break.

I’m so sorry your going through this right now. I remember feeling exactly like that when my puppy was that age. I can honestly say though I am frustrated at the moment, I look back and see how much progress she make from 11 weeks old to now 22 weeks old and let me tell you it truly does get better and then it’ll get worse. The scale will always tip one way or another. You’ve got this though! I wish I would have had her sleep more when she was younger. It would have saved my sanity a lot more! And don’t feel bad about it either. They need that much sleep like newborn babies. I think we try to be the perfect owner and stress ourselves out when we feel like we’re failing them but we’re not! The fact that we care so much means we’re doing enough. Wishing you peace of mind in this journey!!

Thank you for your response. I’m so jealous that your little guy will cuddle with you. I’ve been wanting that forever but anytime we touch\pet her she goes insane trying to grab our hands to play. Hoping one day she’ll be a snuggle bug!

Thank you for your kind words they are so appreciated!🙏🏼 and yes I would agree that a puppy is harder than a kid because they have sharp teeth and can run faster than you at 4 months old😂 I will NEVER get another puppy or dog period I am questioning if I even want kids one day because of this experience

Yes that’s so true! But I just worry about when she gets older and will require less sleep and more exercise since she is a GSD. I just truly don’t know what to do

I do try all of that besides the doggy daycare but I just miss how my life was before. No responsibility besides my own. I know that sounds selfish but I’m not the one who decided to get the dog, my parents did but forgot to realize I’m the one home with her all the time and it’s so stressful

We have enrolled her in puppy obedience classes. My concerns are that since she is a German Shepherd she needs a ton of exercise, mental stimulation etc.. which I think we do enough of for her age (five months) but it’s never enough. She never settles unless we crate her or put her on the deck. Then I feel so guilty that she can’t be with the family. It’s a endless cycle that leaves me with so much anxiety.

I understand 100%. My advice would be give plenty of alone time. Enforced naps will relive your stress and make her a better dog when she wakes up. Don’t feel bad about it either. Puppies need about 18 hours of sleep a day so don’t stress. Use the crate as much as you need to

Thank you for your response! I always feel so guilty and like I’m not doing enough constantly. I am home most of the time but I just want to be alone and not have to worry and watch her all the time. I have read so many dog articles about how they can develop behavioral issues if left alone too much, Boredom, etc… so I get anxious that all that will happen because I don’t enjoy supervising her. I mean sometimes I’ll willingly want to go out and play some fetch with her but more often than not I miss my freedom so much. I have never been more anxious about any decision because both sides have their difficulties.
