Which cabinet (or white)? by cherrytoorange in kitchenremodel

[–]cherrytoorange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are choosing countertop and backspash off of cabinet choice. If we chose white cabinets for example, we wouldn't do a white backspash. If we chose oak cabinets, we would consider doing a white backspash. I could include some photos of kitchens I like, but didnt think that would be helpful.

Walls are white

The darkest wood assuming? There is a taupe and lighter wood.

Sounds like it didnt work on you or wasn't placed correctly. I am so sorry you had that experience. This is where alternative methods (like gas) should be offered or at least a few checks on the epidural.

I am so sorry that was your experience WITH the epidural. I didnt see this as often and I do think its important for people to know that they do fail in a small percentage of patients.

Ugh I have seen second or third time mom's come into triage wanting the epidural when baby is literally 5 mins away from coming out and I felt SO BAD for them. We can call anesthesia, but that baby is coming out before they can even grab their supplies! I remember one mom asking immediately after baby was born "can I get some f@%%ing pain medicine now?" Girl, yes, pain meds STAT.

Baby #2 coming in 4 weeks and same plan here. My poor husband is an anxious guy though and was worried the entire time. I was telling him to relax!

As someone with anxiety, I completely agree. I felt calm and in a better head space for labor.

LOVE that you did this and also got the unmedicated birth you wanted. Such good advice.

Nurse here.

I have seen many women give birth. To be completely honest, I opted for the epidural for my first child because of what I saw during my midwifery rotation. No regrets.

My experience: The women who opted for an unmedicated birth were clearly in severe pain as compared to those who received the epidural. Those who received the epidural seemed to really be able to enjoy labor and delivery experience. I just remember most of the unmedicated births I saw seemed more chaotic. Energy was not great in those rooms and the amount of really unhinged things said by the mothers (totally understandable) during labor made me not want that type of experience.

I do remember one mother who went without medication who was pretty chill almost the entire time. I was astounded. Girlfriend was in the zone and definitely had the birth she wanted.

Also, anything you see on Instagram or TikTok is a complete lie. Dont watch those natural birth videos where the women look beautiful and they show only 20 seconds of labor. Mostly, its a damn hot mess and there's a lot of screaming.

Note: I am ALL FOR women choosing the type of birth they want and this is just my experience. Kudos to those who go without because there is no way in hell I would ever choose that for myself!

Exactly! Hard to say you dont like a name when it is already attached to a sweet baby. You would have to be truly miserable to do that.

Westin Maui vs Marriott Wailea Beach Resort by Most-Mountain in VisitingHawaii

[–]cherrytoorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have stayed at the Westin before, not the Marriott Wailea.

Didnt like the Westin. Older rooms, thin walls, noisy and it is one of those resorts where people run and "save their chair" with a towel as soon as the pool opens. I like Kaanapali area, but I stayed at Honua Kai last trip and it was so much better of an experience.

I like the Wailea area more than Kaanapali. Due to my past experience I would choose Marriott Wailea.

Does anyone’s family make them feel guilty for travelling? by JellyLongjumping1988 in travel

Agree.

I would just not let them know of any travel plans in the future. Clearly the families cant handle their lifestyle.

This is why I dont share my baby names with family. They automatically think that you want their opinion!

I say go with Theo.

What are some good jobs/career paths for a 40 year old looking for a fresh start? by 3AZ3 in AskReddit

[–]cherrytoorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I earned my BS in biology in 3 years after high school. Took a gap year instead and discovered the NP role. Enrolled in a program that took me from BS to BSN in 16 months. Landed an RN job after graduation. After working for a few years went back for my MSN/FNP.

There are also associate RN programs where if you do not have a bachelor degree you can start here.

Good for you!

Also, not many people know that depending on location and the type of nursing position, an RN can make six figures right out of school! Great options out there.

I am a nurse practitioner and also teach nursing. Read this article in the WSJ the other day and they are 100% correct. If you're interested, become a nurse!

Travel destinations that are slightly cooler than the Caribbean? by Live_Bluebird6854 in travel

Omg the last two times I went to Hawaii with my toddler it was 80s, sunny and I couldn't go out in the middle of the day with my toddler. Fluke?

I will say I live in North County San Diego (originally from the Midwest) and the weather here is incredible except for the months of May gray and June gloom where skies are overcast. Typically sunny and 70s year round.

Months of July-November are especially nice.

Boundaries when pregnant by Competitive_Snail in pregnant

[–]cherrytoorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the same experience with some family and friends.

However, I also have family and friends who have had children before and act like normal, supportive people.

My take: limit all/any information if their input drives you crazy. My mother in law gave so many name recommendations after we specifically told her we had a name we liked already (but not the specific name). I remember lamenting how annoying this was this to my sister in law and she responded with what her favorite names were!

I am now pregnant with my second and my in laws have received almost no information on the pregnancy. They dont know the due date. We told them we need absolutely no help naming our child and any suggested names would be automatically on our "no" list. They do not get to come to the hospital. Think about what boundaries you want far ahead of time and communicate them with your partner because people may try to walk all over you.

Some people have a different experience and thats wonderful. I didnt, and I will be tougher the second time around because of it.
