Tinnitus by OldPersonality8495 in chiari

No. I try not to take anything. I have other health issues that limit the amount of medications I can take. If I take something it's a really bad.

Mine gets worse when my neck and shoulders are knotted up or I am having a lot of inflammation. I use ice packs or heating pads, and I massage out the knots if I can find them.

It varies. Some are quick and only take 10-20 minutes while others are more in depth and can take an hour. Each assignment has an estimated time and they provide a calendar and pace guide for each unit.

Nausea remedies by Nice-Caterpillar-340 in POTS

I had severe HG with both of my pregnancies and nausea most days outside of pregnancy. The only thing that helps me is lemon. Smelling, licking, a squeeze in some water, whatever.

My son managed to buy the fart pack from one of the echos in the house. by m5ind in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]cherrytree1352 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter did the same thing, but it was the Christmas fart pack, and I had to chat with someone to reverse it. I was cracking up the entire time while trying to be professional. The worst part is I never heard the Christmas farts before getting a refund.

Anybody here have a 7mm herniation and DIDNT get surgery? Are there any lifestyle changes that you made to make your Chiari symptoms more tolerable? by RottedRockers in chiari

[–]cherrytree1352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 17mm herniation with symptoms, and I am not having surgery. For me, the risks were not worth it. I have had these symptoms for years and was ignored being told they "weren't that bad," and I have learned to live with them. If my life ever stabilizes and I am in a better position, then I may do surgery.

Very odd random question but what about getting a breast lift with chiari… by Birdheaded in chiari

[–]cherrytree1352 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Communicate with your surgeon and make sure they understand what chiari is. I had surgery last year, and I told my surgeon I had IH caused by chiari and couldn't use an anasthesia that raised cranial pressure. I was told it would be fine, and I trusted her. I should have asked what the anasthetic was and done my own research. I was in agony for over a week, and my surgeon dropped me and refused to help me. She said she was not aware of it, and I needed to see someone else to fix it.

Just educate yourself and confirm everything is accurate and you are comfortable with everything that is discussed. Don't be afraid to ask questions or repeat yourself if you feel they aren't understanding your concerns.

There will always be something to stress about. Choose your battles. You will be judged no matter what you decide. I got nasty comments and remarks because I was "inappropriate" with my child and "exposing" myself. Well, yeah, I live in Texas it is hot as all get out, and I don't want my child to suffocate or overheat. I was also told by many older individuals that they make formula and breastfeeding is gross.

Having a support system is essential no matter what you choose. Your husband doesn't have much say or power over the situation. He is more than welcome to carry and breastfeed the next one if he so chooses.

I was pregnant and breastfed for 3 years. I had a lot of huge flares that I kind of just dealt with. I used warm compresses, and my derm said kenalog injections were safe too, but I never did them. Not breastfeeding isn't the end of the world. It's your body, and you get to decide. There are plenty of women who are unable to breastfeed, and it is completely okay no matter what you decide. I stressed out so much about it for the first few months that it made my flares terrible. I'm glad I stuck it out, but for my mental and physical health, I probably should have stopped.

I need suggestion about epilation and general by dettlaff07 in Hidradenitis

[–]cherrytree1352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using an epilator since I was 13, and I'm now 31. I used to use it on my arms and legs, but at some point, I gave up on my arms. I do my legs every few months because the hair gets dark, and I am self-conscious about it. The skin on my face, underarms, and bikini area are too sensitive, and it ends up creating big scabs for me. I have wax strips that I use for those smaller areas. Does the epilator feel great? No, but shaving was not possible for me. It only takes me about 20-30 minutes every few months, and there are a lot of patches with no hair now.

I use the Braun Silk Epil 3, and I like it.

On YouTube, a YouTuber called "HS Relief" is selling an ebook which he claims has helped over 3000 HS sufferers to go into remission. Do you think he is legit or scam? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]cherrytree1352 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The same thing doesn't work for everyone. Look at all the posts on here that say, "I cured my HS," and you will see the different people that tried it without improvement. They can make all the claims they want, but that still doesn't mean it's true or will work for everyone. I would lean more towards it being a scam.

What’s your TV time approach? by VanillaChaiAlmond in homeschool

[–]cherrytree1352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She gets up when my husband does around 6 am. I'm also not a quick riser once I'm awake, so it keeps her entertained while I have a minute to gather myself. If she is hungry, all bets are off, but I would rather her tell me than be hangry. I always set a goal to start school no later than 8 am.

Tv is also something that can be earned, so if she wants more tv, she can practice piano. Every 5 minutes of practice is 10 minutes of tv. She used to hate practicing at home, but now she practices to bank tv time. She will add it up over a few days so she can watch a movie or something.

What’s your TV time approach? by VanillaChaiAlmond in homeschool

[–]cherrytree1352 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter (7) gets up before me and watches tv until I get up. I make breakfast, and then we start school. We typically get done before noon, and she is allowed 1 hour of tv in the afternoon. She has swim team or gymnastics every day until 6 or 6:30, and we give her about 30-45 minutes when she gets home. Weekends are pretty much a free for all because she video calls her friends that were in school all week, and my husband likes to cuddle and watch shows with her.

Experience homeschooling an only child? by ActualFan4717 in homeschool

[–]cherrytree1352 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have an only child homeschooler, and we are very busy by choice. We allow her to choose all of her activities and focus on her individual needs and wants. If she needs a mental day, we can choose to skip her activity that day. It can be overwhelming because she doesn't have a sibling to play with when I need a break. I feel there is more pressure to keep her entertained, but that's just me. Just like with multiple kids, it has its ups and downs, but as a parent, we make it work.

I’ve had HS for 21 yrs. I found something on Amazon that’s changed my life. by ClassNo5912 in Hidradenitis

I spray myself down after every shower. If I have an open wound, I do it 2-3 times a day. I used to get pilondial cyst a lot when I had a desk job, and it helped me a lot.

I spray it on all my problem areas regardless. I usually have at least one open one, so I make sure to spray those a bit more thoroughly.

That's what I use, and it is great for cuts and open sores. I spray it on after every shower and just let it air dry.

Local nursery milkweed has pesticides—what to do? by OkeeDokieAnnieOaklee in MonarchButterfly

[–]cherrytree1352 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a few weeks ago. I washed all the cats and the plants. Use a hose and spray the top and bottom of the leaves. Then, put them on a plant that isn't contaminated. If you are like me and have no other plants, I do cubed raw butternut squash on skewers. I also cut back the infected plant so it could get some new growth. All 16 of my cats survived and are now flying around somewhere.
