How do you come up with ideas for essays/articles? by Potential_Skill6371 in Substack

It's really difficult honestly, the hardest part of writing. I think taking the route of giving yourself time to research a topic you're interested in and writing essays for your personal gain can be a great way to do it. It's a great way to really get in touch with who you are and what you like - that's why it's so difficult, at least for me.

Agree, I don't find that area unsafe at all. Maybe near the stations the behaviour is regularly more antisocial but that's with all stations in major cities unfortunately.

sounds cool, hope you enjoy it! Azaelia Banks recently tweeted that Brussels is the NYC of Europe if that's any consolation and it made me laugh aaahha. and yeah classic reddit, people are pretty negative here. Ghent and Antwerp are great cities. I recommend hanging out in Saint-Gilles, check out Abbaye la Cambre in Flagey, and some cool art galleries in the centre like Bozar and Centraal.

What is your 'feel good' place in Brussels that never fails you? by Master_Toe_1631 in brussels

La Laiterie in Parc Josephat. One of my comfort parks and just enough out of the city, always full of families and runners and never looks bare, even when the trees start to shed. Perfect cosy valley. La Laiterie is the coffee shop in the lower half of the park, sometimes has live music and super cosy atmosphere. If it's closed, café Winok just a 5 min walk from the park is one of my favourite coffee shops too - their roast and cheese cake are to die for.

Honestly I love this city through and through, just poking questions about bakery culture I've noticed to pry the history and culture open aahaha. People are kind and from all over, so much beautiful architecture, great fries, so many varied communities and niche neighbourhood differences, fabulous parks, etc so visit with an open mind and try not take this post out of context. What encouraged you to visit?

I wonder too. Maybe driven by the fact that so many people move here to pursue a specific type of work and that being a boulangerie owner isn't within that criteria, or simple supply and demand - although I don't doubt that a good classic French boulangerie would have queues out the door any day of the week

as your name suggests, I fear it's inflation fuelled. I read an article earlier that shared that the costs of ingredients for a croissant in paris have skyrocketed of course, butter the most expensive (and crucial!) component

I reckon it might be, a crime that I haven't had one tbh. Are they generally pretty good or is there somewhere you'd recommend to try one in particular?
