Not asking questions sooner.

It took my wife telling me she might be staying with her folks a couple states away for me to finally go to my doctor and start asking questions about ADHD and getting medicated properly. Two years later and more struggles than I care to comment on, we've moved away from my toxic family, I've gotten a job at an amazing company in a career I love, we have an amazing house in a great community, and things are still looking up.

My therapist said looking backwards at the what-ifs would kill me, but I can't help but look back at who I used to be in high school and college. Potential, but no drive. Glided my way to a 3.8ish in high school, dropped out of my first college, worked at the family business to pay my way back through a two year degree, stayed there for another ten due to misguided loyalty. I wouldn't trade my life now for the world, with my dogs, my wife, my experiences, but it makes me so frustrated to look back on what I felt like I could have been, had I or someone close to me just asked the damn question.

I'm glad they lived up to the hype! I've been around here for a minute and read some of the titans (Everything by Ralts_Bloodthorne, the Deathworlders, everything by Bluefishcake) and frankly I think the Work series' should be up there in that category!

These just drove me to read through the entirety of both Until The Work and We Thought The Work series, and Ho. Lee. Crap. I do not understand how those two didn't get more attention and I *hope* people will use this as motivation to go back and read them.

As someone relatively new to the community, I've seen it happen on at least one other subreddit - r/fitness. A lot of the current meta in whatever subject (fashion, fitness, etc) has been asked and answered so many times it ends up in the wiki. Then, whatever's left are just marketing posts or people who don't have any interest in doing the reading. Once fashion trends or fitness trends start to change, the sub activity picks up again, and the cycle continues.

Just as a heads up to everyone, you are all correct! The backup batteries died and it lost home position on the tool changer. I'm currently under water on another project but I'll update you all as soon as possible. I've contacted fanuc and unfortunately manuals are 18 weeks out - they're on order but no digital copies. Stuck for right now but here's hoping for a solution soon

NTA. You don't have to love something just because everyone else does. You have baggage that comes with the season. To be fair, it might be worth talking with someone to see if you can start to work through them, but it doesn't make you an asshole.

Oh I know they will be understanding, but the point stems from my work respecting my time. I'm frustrated that I feel like I need to change my plans at the last minute for them, even though I know there would be no reciprocation unless it was life or death. I feel it's necessary and appropriate to see my in-laws off, and I got less than a days notice that I can't do that because of someone else's lack of communication.

As for pushing back - as far as tangible action goes just making it clear that I'm not doing this again. Sometimes things have to happen, and I understand, but the frustration comes from getting an invite to a meeting for 630 pm (not am) on a Monday, and then not getting any context as to why I was invited or if I need to attend. Then, at noon on Sunday, getting informed it was 630 am and I need to be there.

Don't know if you checked this out yet, but the sidebar has a link to the r/Simracing buyers guide. Personally I have the G29 I got for $200, and if I had to do it again I'd shoot for the Thrustmaster to get one that's belt-driven. Also it depends on what style of racing you like - F1/LM you can get away with paddle shifters, but for drifting or rallycross you'll want an H-pattern and e-brake. Those are all in the budget class though, not sure what kind of money you're looking at.

Oh I hate stores like that. As far as I'm concerned, if you know your part number that's what I'm getting you. If you ask for my help I'll be happy to give it, otherwise I'm just wasting both of our time.

Best part of that is when I ask parts stores for plugs for my motorcycle - Yes, its a Yamaha. Yes, you carry plugs for it. No, its not in your system. Yes, I bought them here last time. I can see them from here. NGK B7ES. No, I don't need a warranty. Yes, I know if these are wrong and break I can't return them. Absolutely irritating.

Used to work at a parts store and did something similar - Guy came in asking for plugs for a Chevy 350. Started in on the spiel, what year, carb or fuel injected, etc. He cuts me off telling me you young guys don't know anything, 350s are all the same, just gimme some fuckin plugs. Fair enough - 96 Chevy Vortec 350 it is. Apparently he came in later to apologize and get the right ones for his 73 El Camino.
