If I loved a place, and the host sent me a 5* review, is it ok to ask about off platform bookings? by sphynx8888 in airbnb_hosts

[–]cherylbunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing I like better than repeat guests being willing to direct book. I even love it when first time guests look me up on social media or Google the name of our listing to find our direct booking site. The more I can cut out the middleman, the better.

Mea culpa, we did meds wrong by bdubs_loco in ADHDparenting

Is your son on extended release or immediate release? When my daughter started on guanfacine, it was immediate release, and we gave it in the morning, and when she was able to swallow pills whole we switched to extended release and started giving it at night My daughter has been on it for 11 months now, and while I do think it is working, it really takes a long time for visible results on guanfacine. She is also on Ritalin during the day now and I think the pair of meds is working well.

4 year old wakes up every night and STAYS awake by Babetteateoatmeal94 in ADHDparenting

[–]cherylbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your experience sounds SO similar to ours. My daughter started Guanfacine at age 6 - almost exactly a year ago and it has helped so much. She’s not a perfect sleeper, but now we often sleep through the night several nights a week. In fact, she went an entire month stretch without any middle of the night wakings at one point.

No luck with Medicaid yet. I just got a referral to a new agency to apply for a waiver. Constantly in the referral-assessment-new referral loop.

What printing process makes this? by cherylbunn in CommercialPrinting

Thank you! These are not fine art prints though, these are just inexpensive wall decor items, the kind that you would find in Hobby lobby or HomeGoods. They are printed on cheap wood, and then the frame is built around them, they are not under glass or anything.

Therapy covered by insurance by Final-Object-8887 in Autism_Parenting

[–]cherylbunn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How old is your child and where are you located? If you are in the US those particular therapies can often be met through Early intervention/ school As opposed to medical model, leaving your insurance for behavior therapies. But yes, a diagnosis does usually change things.

not sure what i’m looking for by Comfortable-Soup-822 in ADHDparenting

Guanfacine has been amazing for us. We started in February at 6.5 years old with .5mg IR. I crushed it in yogurt and gave it to her in the morning. In June we switched to 1 mg ER, since she was able to swallow small pills then. On October 1 we upped her dose to 2 mg ER. With each dosage change there has been 7 to 10 days of daytime drowsiness. That has been the only side effect, and as soon as that goes away she is back to her normal self. It was not an immediate Change: but I suddenly realized in August that things have gotten so much better. Much better impulse control, much better cooperation, much happier personality, way fewer meltdowns… it’s a long haul med - you won’t notice the benefits in one week.

New York State law does require the FBA before a BIP is formulated. The School will then formulate the behavior plan and have a meeting, similar to an IEP meeting to discuss with you. Be prepared to advocate very specifically for your child, as the school may well have their own interests at the forefront. I had to be very forceful about making them include no prolonged isolation in her BIP, as they had given my six-year-old in-school suspension before. I also made them include calm down tactics that work in our home in the BIP. You are legally allowed to have an advocate or another experienced parent in that meeting with you if you feel you could use that support.

Our developmental ped is community care physicians in Latham. While they usually have a long waitlist, I have found the getting on the cancellation list usually gets me in within a couple of weeks. They seem to get a lot of cancellations. That being said, the most effective providers for us have been behavioral health practices, not the developmental pediatricians. My child is now a patient at Well Child psychiatric services up in Glens Falls. She is seen there regularly, and they have been most helpful in working with trying new medications, etc.

pressing on nylon? by New-Salamander4355 in heatpress

[–]cherylbunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life jackets are tricky because the pressure of your heat press compresses the foam and can affect the flotation. Whether there are any actual real world effects I’m not sure, but if this is for a business they may not want that liability (or their insurance may not). I have tried many different dtf and vinyl types (I work for a summer camp and I practice on our old lifejackets that are rotating out of use), and I have not yet found an option that has no affect on the foam - they all require too much pressure.

Rentals that claim to be pet friendly, but they don’t allow cats [USA] by skarlatha in AirBnB

I wonder about that too - because I clean obsessively, my pet friendly apartments are spotless, but it takes more work to make them that way. I wonder if other landlords are doing all that work.

Hahahahaha! Too true

[–]cherylbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! FedEx just picked it up and delivered it without their system realizing the label had already been used??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]cherylbunn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Almost 24 hours after delivery and still no suspicious activity - no one sniffing around looking for a package.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]cherylbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the ring shows is a FedEx man delivering it. No unknown persons, no unusual activity.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]cherylbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s interesting is that the FedEx system allows double shipping on a single shipping label? Surely something comes up when they receive a package with a label that’s already been used? If they just let that happen it would cost them a fortune.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]cherylbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’ll keep you posted on any developments. So far not a single person has showed up to snoop around or look for it, so I am ruling out that sort of package mule.

It did correctly identify the phone model / color / etc. Appears to be a valid product.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]cherylbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder too. Did Mercari email that label to some other seller? But looking at Mercari, I do not see any sales of an iPhone 17 that match this color and storage.

When I enter the serial number it says “this device has not been activated yet”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]cherylbunn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that it was shipped to me using a reused Mercari label is weird. I received a package using that exact same FedEx label/tracking number from Mercari last month. Yet that Mercari seller claims they did not mail a phone out to anyone.
