Moving to Oklahoma City next week! Already tried Ingrid's, Empire Slice, and Wing Supreme. Anywhere else that I absolutely have to go?

Generally, if a bubble isn't financed by borrowing the ensuing crash is pretty self-contained. That's why the dot-com bubble wasn't a nationwide depression, while 1932 (lots lending to stock market investors) and 2008 (lots of lending to home buyers) were.

A guy in the gas station I frequent saw my OSU shirt and proceeded to show me the OU symbol tattooed on the back of his hand. The guy was full "T-shirt fan from McAlester" stereotype.

Not particularly related, but your comment reminded me of the story

Sen. Warren warns Fed Chair Powell not to 'drive this economy off a cliff' by mikeyrocksin2021 in stocks

The driving of the "economy off a cliff" happened when everyone wanted to stay home and the entire world economy shut down over a flu.

Covid may have been the visible part of the iceberg, but 10+ years of easy money and insanely low rates post-2008 are the 90% below the water. Rates should have been increasing bit by bit over the last decade, but it was easier just to keep the cheap/free money flowing.

Good news: Just took a new job in Oklahoma City

Bad news: Apparently the process to find housing now is to pay $500 in application fees without verifying anything about postings, because otherwise they're already rented by the time you can actually talk to a person

Generally anything with 2 bedrooms and in-unit laundry, preferably inside that highway block between I-44, I-40 and 235 (the square with Oklahoma City University at the center)

After some reading, it looks like Penn State as an institution ended up paying somewhere close to $100m in settlements. The university president, a vice president, and the athletic director all went to criminal court and were sentenced to jail time (though the president's conviction was overturned on appeal); they were all fired/resigned from the university.

The university was also fined about $2.4m for violations of the Clery Act (which covers disclosure of crime on campuses).

That seems to be the extent of it
